So I'm picking up a new gsx this week and I'm torn between the next step. I'm not sure if I should upgrade injectors now (since I plan on running E85) or pick up Link lite. The motor is a fully built 6-bolt 2.3 stroker with the following parts (some parts have changed though, iirc):

-complete 6-bolt swap (less than 1000 miles on motor)
-evoIII 16g
-fmic kit
-hks ssqv bov
-walbro fuel pump
-act2600 clutch kit
-fidanza flywheel
-3" turbo-back exhaust
-taylor 8mm plug wires
-ngk bpr7es plugs
-TurboXS MBC
-dejon tool intake pipe
-maft translator
-550CC injectors
-Dejon tool 3" blow through intake pipe with large k&n air filter
-99' conversion (bumpers/headlights/spoiler)
-Tripple gauge pod with: Boost, AEM wideband, oil pressure gauges.
-dual cluster pod with : EGT gauge, water temp gauges.
-Punishment racing 3" o2 housing with atmospheric dump pipe
-Color matched valve-cover / intake pipe.

The two items in bold are what is making me indecisive. On my old 16g setup at 18 psi, 550's, half-assed tuned through S-AFC Neo I logged IDC's of 116% at 6800 rpms. Granted, I plan to run E85 as stated so injectors will be coming either way. What do you guys think would be more logical first since the car is already coming with the maf-t and even a laptop for tuning?

Get the tuning software first. Especially if you plan on going with E85.

Thanks guys. I'm fairly new to the area of tuning and the whole maf-t setup and what it can and cannot do. I'm assuming you really can't compensate for E85 through the maf-t or am I way off?

Right now the car sits at the stock 10 psi with a quick base tune and I plan to run at least 18 psi on the 550's if I can get the tune down right and then run around 22 psi through Delphi 1000's and link.

+1 on tuning software. You will be able to get bigger injectors after you get the software.

Okay so link seems to be the winner. Now here is another question. How much boost would 550's safely be able to handle? I have a few people who asked me this same question and I wasn't able to give them a definitive answer.

Agree with Brian. On E85 and 550's you are going to be lucky to run stock boost. It's an increase of fuel about 33%.

Its like buying condoms after a night with your girl.. It just don't make sense.. Buy link then buying 1000+ cc injectors..

Yea, there is no way I'm going to attempt E85 on only 550's. I do know that some people have gotten away with it on 880's but I wouldn't trust it on anything less than 1000's.

Ryan, I've had 3 people offer to buy the 550's off me once I upgrade, LOL. I'll definitely keep you in mind.

Luckily enough ECMTuning is only an hour or so away from me so I can drive to their shop and have link installed....no down time or shipping :hellyeah:

Get the link, sell your 550s and get some 1000cc+ injectors and enjoy the government subsidized race fuel :hellyeah:

Tkelly, the car I'm picking up is a '95 and ready to go for link. The car in my avatar is the '99 that I ended up totaling about a month ago. I do have the OP2.0 cable that I need to list up for sale. Unfortunately I never got a chance to run any of the ceddy mods. :ohdamn:

This weather is really screwing with me getting this car. We have nearly 7 feet of snow built up on the side of the road in my neigborhood and there is still plenty of snow on the road. The owner of the car even offered to drive the 2.5 hours to come pick me up and take me back to get the car so it will be in my possession by Friday.

Bummer to hear about your 99. My buddy has a 95, I'm trying to get him to try an EVO ecu and sell his 95 to someone. I sold some parts to an EVO dude recently and he loves the native speed density setup in his car. To quote him "I've never had a car run this good." With 272/280 cams no less.

Evoscan is bad to the bone! I've never tried link logger, but evoscan is awesome. As good as the innovate logging software.

Since you already have the cable, seriously consider the evo ecu. They can be had for $100.

Send some snow my way. It's friggan sunny and 60 out here. Not winter at all.

Hey Shane, That's a bummer to hear about your car, i remember seeing it up at carroll community's parking lot. Sounds like your taking on a pretty nice GSX though, Good luck man. P.S- I know all about the snow, I have 7 foot walls on both sides of my driveway and it keeps coming down.

Thanks guys. I'm really missing my '99 right now, especially with all this snow. I've been driving my girlfriend's Chrysler Cirrus around for the past 2 weeks and I'm surprised it's made it this long through the snow, LOL.

I was also considering the evo ecu swap as well. Evoscan really is an amazing logger for us 2g guys. ECUflash was little confusing for me to use being that I'm new to tuning. Once I figured out the program and how to flash the roms after talking to Ceddy himself I was ready to do some flashes. Unfortunately the following day is when I got into the accident and never got a chance to play with it, LOL.

Boosted - Long time no talk, haha. This snow really is getting old and it's still coming down here as well. They're now saying we're looking at 20 inches total between yesterday and tonight......grrreeeaaattttt.
