let's say hypothetically that i had an Evo III big 16G with supporting mods... what intercooler do you guys suggest i get... like a DejonTool or Hahn or Supra side mount? or should i get a FMIC ?

I myself would go frount mount. 16g is a big turbo and they get bigger, so if you do decide to go bigger; a FMIC woulden't let you down. Sparco....they are awesome. Also this site has sponsors that you should check out. Hell they woulden't have them if they weret the best for DSM's(considering this site is ALL about helping you and your dsm).Happy hunting man :thumb:

I would suggest starting off with a Supra Side Mount Intercooler. I've heard great performance with it for a great bargain cost.

If you so decide in a FMIC, i recommend the Greddy 18R or Greddy 24V. :thumb:

Good luck with your future set up.

yup i would say go with a SBR or AGPboth short route piping and won't need to worry about upgrading after that. :thumb: plus no need to worry about heatsoaking your fmic like with thos smics

"Hypothetically" speaking, if you had a 2G, I would get the 7" kit from www.extremeintercoolers.com since it comes with a J-pipe.

Don't you need a DSM first? You are not planning to put a Evo III Big 16G turbo on your 1989 Toyota Camry DOHC V-6 2.5L, are you?

Any FMIC kit like Dejon or ExtremePSI will work just fine. Most of the 1g FMIC kits that the piping travels through the radiator core have just as short of piping as the smic kits. The best fmic designs are the ones with the vertical cores. Most people don't like the way they look, but they have less pressure drop than the horizontal cores and have better heat exchange. The only advantages to the side mount is a little less pressure drop than a fmic and it won't get beat up as much on a daily driven car. Most side mount intercoolers can support up to or above 400hp. :dsm:

actually, no, i am not... hence the "hypothetical" part. from extremeintercoolers, wouldn't it be cheaper to just get the 7"... i mean, its not like im going to be running some T66 drag motor ... it's my daily driver (which i plan to get soon, but until then dont make fun of my toyota beast, please)

I figured I would never go bigger than the Evo3 but I got the 10" tall kit just so I wouldn't have to do things twice...The Evo3 lasted maybe 4 months and now I'm quite happy that I got the 10" tall kit.
