Evo3 16G! How to make it sound louder spoiling?

That's easy... More boost! :hellyeah: LOL Really every setup is different, but it has a lot to do with the intake to the turbo. I have noticed that a hard intake pipe instead of the factory rubber style intake can really make spool-up whistle more prevalent. But... more boost and/or a bigger compressor usually means more spooling sound.

Lol I think my Borg Warner makes more racket at 3 psi then the hx40 made at 35!

Hi I have a 2g with a evo3 16g 15psi all supporting mods and hks exhaust. Im all about hp but I like the whistle that others have how due you get that sound?
Go easy on me!

Well your profile says u have an exhust..Soo fill that out, then maybe ask this question.

On a side note my 14b screams at anything over about 1500 rpms..

Run your intake piping into the cabin without a filter. Or cut a hole in the passenger firewall. Or get a bigger turbo. Or run sd with nothing covering the inlet. Or just unhook the vac line from the wastegate actuator, you'll get power and sound then.

Remove the sound deading material from the hood and firewall.... :aha:

Also add a mic and place the receiving speaker in the cabin and play it on full volume! Mercedes actually do this with there exhausts

Remove the giant, useless, plastic snorkel from your ic piping (if you still have the stock ic). It'll make a huge difference!

Speed density and open downpipe if you want spool sounds. Its just a small turbo. But nice flowing filter with no maf restriction helps.

To be honest, all hard piping and a GM MAS (blow thru) made the most difference in my setup.
Filter--pipe--turbo inlet. But since i just added a 3" cutout off my downpipe, the whistle of the turbine is waaay louder then the compressor spooling. :D

I drove one time with out my hood on while I was painting it. You wouldn't believe how insanely loud the 14b actually is with no hood on.

It made me immediately wonder how loud it would be if I had a heat vent on my hood, or a evo style hood.

MOAR BOOSTZ
Nah but in all seriousness, with my hard pipe intake and charge pipes my 14b sounds good at just 15psi.
