How to make a louder BOV

i figured this would not be tech worthy so i will throw it in here!

**i notice absolutly no effects bad or good, the car did not run differently at all after this lil mod, but that by no means i am responsible if anything happens to you as a result of this mod (i gotta cover my ass)**

i stumbled on this while working on my car one bright sunny morn...i forget what i was actually doing but some how i accidently poked a hole in my bov return tube,

so basically,

in your bov return tube cut a hole just barley big enough to fit your pinki finger in

and enjoy

now you can add your own lil gits and gadgets to it for different sounds (like those fancy horns and wistles that you see on bovs), just make sure they wont get sucked into your turbo or blown onto the road, so if you have any lil voice in your head that thinks there might be a slight chance of it being sucked in to your turbo it means IT WILL SO DONT DO IT

im not real big on the sound, but if i can make it louder for free, what the hell right?

o and if you do it and dont like it, just wrap it with electrical tape and problem solved

you do realise your releasing air that the ecu is acounting for and your car is running richer then before you cut the hole in your bov return tube,...right?

I find my stock 2g bov is quite loud as it is. why would you want louder, its already hard enough to hide it from the popo.

like you can easily hear it with the windows done up....why need more? wanna break glass or something?

This is worst than just venting, you're loosing metered air when BOV is open and sucking in unmetered air when it's close. Two birds with one stone. :laugh:

Unmetered AND UN-FILTERED... So it'll run like shit at idle because of unmetered air being sucked in, run like shit when you shift because its letting out metered air, and then finally just blow up after it sucks up some dirt of the road, what a great mod!

alright guys...stop flamming him, obviously by cutting a hole in ur return tube ur just letting out air ur ECU is reading and ur not gonna get enough air with the fuel ur car adds. so first plug it back up...next if u wana make it louder get a hard pipe...or a new bov...i got a hard pipe for my 1gen and it was louder..now if u guys are saying the 2gen bov is loud as it is the hard pipe will make it louder trust me...if that's not loud enough get a greddy type-s with the hard pipe...it's frickin loud and i love it next time ask us about mods and dont do them just becuase u hear or read another stupid ass do them

there was a thread a while ago that said if you replace that little rubber pig tail piece that connects from the BOV to the intake pipe with a metal or aluminum pipe then it will make it louder...think about when you replace your stock intake tube with a metal one....does it now get louder?

On the intake side, no it wouldn't since this is a location where air is being drawn and sucked in. However, on the BOV dump tube to the intake, it certainly would make it louder since this is a quick rush of pulsed air moving at high velocity. It makes sense that it would be louder since rubber/plastic absorbs more sound than metal would. Take a piece of radiator hose and a piece of copper pipe and give them a quick air burst with an air nozzle and you'll see the difference.

Then again, my IG Bov is plenty loud enough for my taste.

I might do this mod ...but it will have to wait for now cause I am in the process of cross drilling my compressor blades for a much louder turbo spool sound.....seriously do not attempt any of these above mention mods.
