evo tranny in my tsi awd

why would you over pay for the name EVO? Just get yours rebuilt by Jacks or TRE.

im thinking maybe the Evo I-III's...i doubt the newer styles would work cause the engines are mounted differently (passenger side vs. driver side).

Evo 4 and on trannies WILL NOT work period. An evo3 would as it is attached to the same motor we have. I agree with pimking, get yours rebuilt by jacktrans or shep. It would end up being the same cost as finding you a evo3 tranny or another dsm tranny.

I'll add my ¢.02 here. Used Shep to rebuild/upgrade ours, by far the best experience I've ever had dealing with any DSM vendor.

The EVO 1-3 trannies will fit a DSM, but the problem is the final drive gear ratio for the front is different. So if you blindly pop an EVO trans in your DSM, you will burn up the center diff in the unit. You have to either swap the front diff ring gear and output gear with a US ratio, or swap your rear diff with the EVOIII unit which will match the trans.

The 4-10 are a completely different animal and will not fit.
