Cant figure out the problem with my tranny. I was driving bout 65 when there was a loud whining noise like something was stuck in a fan or belt.I pulled over and couldnt find anything.I drove through town to take the car home and it wanted to die and the rpms drop dramatically when i put the clutch pedal in. I opened the hood when i got home and theres was smoke coming from what looked like the intake manifold.I'm very sure it was from the tranny.I'm not sure about dropping a tranny in a awd car either.Any help would be great.

Hmmm doesn't really sounds like it. I would check for fluids in everything. Check the tranny fluid and let us know what it looks like/ smells like.

I'm pretty sure its the tranny. When i drive the car in gear in makes noise and shudders.I knows its not the motor cause i can rev it in neutral and theres no noise.

if you've only had the car in your ownership for that short amount of time you can get it fixed for free. otherwise good luck pulling it out, vfaq helps out a lot, but its a huge pita. how did you do this though? Spinning in snow directly to dry pavement?

How can i get it fixed for free? I bought it from a private seller. Its at a dealership now. im just going to have them take the tranny out so i can ship it to a shop close while the car sits or i can just get the shep tranny. It's easier then shipping the whole car around. And yes its rly bad for an awd car to go from snow or ice to dry pavement.Especially with sharp turns u can blow a rear diff out very easily.Thts why i thought it might b the transfer case.

I said you could get it fixed for free due to the lemon law. Regardless of how it happened you had the car for a short amount of time and you could have the previous owner pay for it depending on the law in your state.
