95 tsi awd tranny in 1g laser?

I'm not sure of the swap on 1g's. But using a 2g awd in 1g awd is doable. The 1gs have 1 mount on the trannies where the 2gs have 2 or 3. It is possible to use a 2g awd tranny in a 1g awd and is a semi-common swap as the 2g's tend to be more durable. The mount is either where it should be or involves welding it to the tranny casing. As for converting a 1g FWD to AWD I'm not sure on the difficulties. But I do know the trunk area's are different as the FWD have a slightly larger area and the awd's are smaller because bottom is moved up to allow the rear end under it.

The 2g trans will work in a 1g but not the rest of the 2g drivetrain stuf, if that is what you are asking.

1g and 2g tranny mounts are not the same. so you'll need a 1g tranny.

And not to be rude, the last three topics i seen you post on the information you gave out was wrong. Can you please do more research before you reply, and if you dont know..dont reply.

Thanks i found this 95 awd tsi for 250 bucks so i thought i may be able to do some swapping. Anyhow i found out his is an automatic and i realized then it would never work. So thanks for this information anyways. I plan on getting 2 more dsms and spend the time on the cars that i don't spend working or with my kids. I want to be a DSM Tuner.

LOL. so your saying you can bolt a 1g transfer case to a 2g tranny? thats totally not true so how can you use a 2g tranny in a 1g without using a 2g tranfer case?

This needs some cleaning up.

It is a known fact that a '95-'96 t-case is the same as any 1G 23-spline transfer case. Mitsubishi ASA lists the same part number for 23-spline 1G cars' and 1995-1996 cars' transfer cases (MD758205 for MTX and MD758203 for ATX) meaning they are interchangeable. If you wish to read about what would be required to put any other 2G transmission into a 1G car, check this thread out: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/drivetrain-tech/402630-1g-2g-transmission-driveline-compatibility.html.

1g's fwd can be converted to awd. there is a member on here that has done it. it is a tone of work nd hassle nd can be done. but just easier to find a awd shell.

Absolutely correct, and that member (or at least one member who's done the swap) is DSM Forums - View Profile: bastarddsm. I've seen the car in person, too. :thumb:

the 1g tranny mounts are different from the 2gs man ull need a 1g trans

The general rule is you can swap a 2G transmission into a 1G car, but you cannot swap a 1G transmission into a 2G car due to the mounting issue. Just to clarify things (and in case you don't decide to read the link I posted above), a 1G transmission has one mount on it while the engine block has the other three. Conversely, the 2G transmission has three mounts on it and the engine has the other one. You lose two mounting points by trying to put a 1G transmission into a 2G car. Doing the 2G transmission into a 1G car, you don't lose any mounting points because the others are on the engine block, not the transmission.

Hopefully that does the job.

I had a friend that did that to his 93 AWD Talon. Transmission came out of 96 AWD Talon (5 speed), so yes a 2G tranny will fit in a 1G! but you cannot use a 1G transmission into a 2G due to the mounting issue like 19Eclipse90 mentioned above.
