i want to put an end to this now can anyone tell me for sure if an evo 4 rs lsd diff would be ok in a 1997 gsx i know about the drive shafts but been told the ratio may be rong any one who knows this i would be very greatfull:)

I'd say 99% of those here on tuners are from the US, where we don't have (or never had) the evo 4.

Hopefully someone in another country can assist you. There are a few knowledgable posters here from other countries.

So, just be patient.

Yea, we don't see too many early EVO's here in the states, but with a litte Googling, I found the following:

EVO IV Final Drive Ratio = 4.529
2G AWD Final Drive Ratio = 4.929

So not only is the case different (as I mentioned in your OTHER THREAD) , but the final ratios are different as well. So to answer your question, no.

Have you tried to source a rear diff from a new/used Mitsu parts vendor here in the states (or even in the Tuners Classifides)? I know Mitsubishi Graveyard can get most any used part for you, but don't know what shipping/declarations to the UK would be like :dsm:

Opps, quoted the front Diff Ratio in the above,
The Rear Diff Final Drive Ratios:

EVO IV = 3.323
2G AWD = 3.545

So still are different :dsm:

are you sure about this i checked that info and i have the eclipse at 3.307 and asked someone on the mitsubishi lancer register and they say the evo 4 does have o ratio of 3.545 but the evo 5 6 and 7 have a ratio of 3.307 do you think this sounds right

Referencing the link above, the 97 AWD with Manual Tranny (I assume that's what you have since your vehicle profile is blank) has the 3.545 rear ratio. The Automatic Transmission does have a 3.307 rear ratio though :dsm:

AH now then that means i can use the evo 4 diff because that has the same ratio thanks Eric
