I have an evo ll housing number:49178-01460,I also have an evo lll housing numbered:49178-01470. I was wondering if anyone knows what the difference is between them. I have the evo ll housing on my car now. The turbo is an evo lll with an evo ll housing on it. I ported it and installed it without noticing that it had a different number. It fit and no clearance issues. I was just curious if there was any design difference. I did search but to no avail. Thanks in advance.

Someone correct if I'm wrong but from my understanding the MHI Evo I-III 16g turbos compressor wheel, housing, & turbine wheel are the same. The Evo III 16g turbo has a lighter/stronger hotside that makes it different than the I's and II's though.

:dsm:

It's different somewhere along the line....either the Evo II 1460 turbo will have a standard 7cm turbine housing with the Evo III-style compressor, or it will have the Evo III-style 7cm turbine housing and a standard Big 16G compressor.

The Evo III 16G inducer is .010" larger than a standard Big 16G compressor. That's the only measurable difference in the compressor wheels.

Strange that i did'nt notice, But the clearance is good. So i guess the compressor housing from the ll and lll are the same. I have an elll turbo with a ell housing.
