I apologize if i didnt search that long for this topic. I want to purchase oem evo 8 pistons and rods with rings to drop into my 95 7 bolt. Possible? Im not aiming for any high power gains or racing. The car is automatic so the most that im going to do to it is bolt on mods and raise the boost up on the stock turbocharger.

If you are going to stick with the stock turbo you dont have to change the pistons for stronger ones. Just turn up the boost. I think you can turn the boost up to 13psi-14psi on the stock fuel system. Yes you can swap evo pistons if you want to, but if you were going to swap out the pistons you should do a 6 bolt swap.

Dont bother with EVO 8 Pistons..

EVO 9 Pistons are what you want.... Forged, Skirt Coated, Lighter & Higher Compression than 2g pistons

Here are some side-by-side next to 1g pistons/rods

Look how beefy that 1g rod is compared to those toothpick 7bolt ROFL

haha i apologize again. i forgot to tell you that my timing belt broke on my gst and pistons 2 and 3 are pretty banged up. thats why im getting new pistons and rods. and new stock pistons from the dealer and some sites are pretty expensive and someone offered me a great price on some evo 8 new pistons and rods so i was like hey why not might as well.

I'm actually running EVO9 parts in my 95 block and they are a straight swap. Make sure you put them in correctly with the "intake" side on the DSM exhaust side due to the slightly offset wrist pin location. The dot on the top of the piston goes to the timing side.

There really aren't any benefits to this. Some say the EVO parts are higher compression, but that is only due to the EVO head combustion chamber volume. You can search aftermarket parts that are for both engines, and you will see 2 different compression ratios between the engines. This is only because of the head. The parts are likely stronger than DSM stuff and can handle slightly more power, but realistically you'd want aftermarket parts to make any real gains above what stock DSM parts can handle. The weakest part of both engines is the rod bolts and rods themselves.

Unless you get the EVO parts cheap or for free like I did, then I wouldn't bother. However, due to recent circumstances, I would DEFINITELY change the oil squirters when doing your build :/
