I am expecting an EVO 8 399 MAF shortly. I was wondering if anyone knows how to adapt a 1g can to an EVO 8 MAF?

I have put some time and money into my 1g can. It is all pretty and coated with POR 15. I have also invested money in the air filter on it.

I don't want to spend any more money in that area if I can avoid it.

I see that people have done it on these 2 links here but both seem like pain in the necks and perhaps not that pretty or reliable. I am willing to chance it but would rather have some thoughts first:

Also, the end of the MAF is the same on both the EVO 8 and 2g MAF correct?

Just want to know if the same procedure would apply for both because the 1st link is for a 2g MAF.

Thanks for any ideas.

What do you mean the "face is different"? I guess for all intents and purposes it doesn't really matter since it is the same bolt pattern?

I appreciate your help, thanks for chiming in.

Very similar, same bolt pattern but face is slightly different.

Yes.

The intake will fit perfectly around the EVO MAS, 1g/3g/EVO are all 3.125".

Dejon Powerhouse has a solution to adapter the 1g filter to a 2g MAS. This might be a solution for you.

The 2g/3g/EVO MAS all have the same style flange for the filter, 4 bolt square setup. The difference is the intake side, not filter, 2g is 4 inches and 3g is 3.125 as stated above.

My suggestion is since dont have much room to work with in a galant, even less room than the 1g, i would buy a filter adapter for the 2g/3g/EVO MAS. They can be found to adapter the square flange to 4.5" and 5" filters. It looks just like this:

I know you dont want to spend more money and want to adapter the 1g filter, I am sure you can do it. I just found that using this hardware helped with the tight fitment. I know you saw my picture from the other thread, I had to use a pretty short filter for it to fit properly.

I used an adapter harness for the EVO MAS, I know people on Galantvr4.org sell them. I got mine with the filter form DSMchips.com a while ago, they are no longer in business.

As always agentorange...thanks for your posts. They are always very thoughtful and thorough. You are appreciated. BTW what thread were you referring to? Also, I don't see that adapter plate on Dejon's site.

The second picture is of my DSM,I was referring to fitment issue, but your filter is in a different location. I wanted to show that I needed a short filter for it to fit in my engine bay area. This is the filter I am running.
