Larger Injectors with EVO MAF (like 2g in a 1g)?

I know the 2g MAF will report about 20-25% less airflow than a 1g MAF so something like 550's which are 22% larger than stock will pretty much balance each other out. I was wondering if there is a similiar difference between an EVO MAF and a 2g MAF so that you could run a little bit bigger injectors on a stock tune.
 
I've never tried it with a 2g/evo combo, but have used the 1g/2g combo before with 510cc and it works great. The car has been 11.60s with this combo and no other type of fuel control except an afpr. The car has been running strong like this for 5 years now, so the 2g/evo combo is worth a try. If anything it should be fat with 550s, so shouldn't have much to worry about. Its not the correct way, but if it works as good as the older combo you will be fine till you go with something different.

It's more complected as the scaling isn't the same, they have different multipliers that have to be taken into considerations as well as Maf Compensation...

Take Note As I said you can't just use this as referance as say in compairison the 1g maf Muiltplier would be 100 and the 2g is 64 so even looking at these you can see how much differance there can be.So even if the maf is reporting a given about of airflow at one point because of that it's not linear it will be differant at differant points. Also, Take note that thought the 2g and Evo maf look close they have Completely differant multipliers.

The combos like 2g maf in a 1g with X injectors works but the resoning behind it was a lot different back in the day. There are to many options these days IMHO to bother with things like this.

OK, I think I understand what you are getting at. Yes they are different but not consistently so. At one point there may be a 20% difference while at another there may be only a 5% difference and so on. In other words you can't just put xx size injectors in and have it work across the board with the stock 2g MAF compensation settings. You would definately need to compensate with some form of tuning, correct?
 
Pretty much, Like I said there are just to many options these days or other ways to get the end result you want to mess with hacked maf's or combos like this ect... . Also FYI, the Scaling is the opposite way for a 2g maf vs 3g/evo then the 1g vs 2g.

Aside from the Fact the 1g MAS is a giant POS I wouldn't put any other Maf on a 1g besides that reason, But that's just me... .

People use to do this stuff, Because the only other option was some form of piggy back or Standalone and most or both where $$$

Something like a ol' school f-con/vpc/gsc to run SD that you could find these days for cheap as hell was $1200-1600 new or a haltech... . let see the average DSM'r pay that there days LOL

What exactly are you trying to do this for anyway? I mean I take it's not the car in your profile...
 
Right, it's not mine. My girlfriend and I will be starting her '95 GSX build in the fall and I'm just mulling over ideas for tuning. Unlike mine, her car will not be changing once it is built. She will be all stock except for 3" exhaust and T-28. I have some FIC 650's already and I was trying to not spend the money for Link on this build but that may be what it comes down to. Another thing I was considering was putting in my ECU with Link v.3, tuning it with the 650's, and then save the file. Then, since she has an eprom ecu already, I'll have her ecu socketed and use that tune as the basis for getting an eprom chip burned for her.
