Evo 8 ecu on a 2gen DSM

Hello guys, I know you can swap an evo 8 ecu into a dsm, my question is, there is three types of evo ecu's MR578582 (Evo 8 and also 3gen eclipse 4g64) MN132874 (US version) and the other one 1860A118. The MR works on a 2gen dsm?

Why not use the ecu out of the 98/99 gst/gsx? They are also flash able and you only need to add one wire if you put it in an earlier car? Unless there are other advantages I am un aware of?
