So my question is how rare are EVO 3 motor and tranny's? And what is their value? I cant find much info on them as far as people selling evo 3 parts. I have an EVO 3 engine and tranny both rebuilt with about 200 miles on them. Before you start flaming on me btw I know it is a Genuine EVO 3 motor/tranny already. I actually got the motor from a 1G Laser that I bought that the kid had modified to fit the evo 3 setup in. He welded a custom mount on the front crossmember for the 7 bolt style mount on the tranny. He also had to pull out the LSD out the tranny becuase the axles would not work in the 1g... i would have definately made some axles before giving up the lsd :ohdamn: I thought it was pretty interesting to see this setup in a 1g though. The motor is fresh with cometic head gasket, arp head studs, and hks timing and balancer belts. Just wanted to get some other peoples thoughts and input. :thumb:

I have no need to use it right now. I just have it sitting in my garage and trying to figure out whether I should keep it or sell it and if so what is worth. I dont want get ripped off or rip anyone else off

First things first, Verify that the engine is evo 3...Does it look like a 2g engine? It's a 7 bolt, it has a larger TB than 2g, along with larger ex maniold...The intake manifolds only have 2 nipples I'm pretty sure, but that manifold itself is basically the same as 2g, minus the obvious 60 mm tb and nipples...It's going to come with a Real evo 3 16g as well obviously..And I'm not sure if the 7 jdm vc says mits on it, I know its 6 bolt counterpart infact does...

I am positive it is EVO 3 engine and tranny. The guy who bought the motor specifically ordered an EVO 3 swap for his car. Plus when I got the motor none of the stock stuff was on it besides the Evo 3 intake mani. It had a full t3 setup running megasquirt with a crank trigger wheel.

Any more input on this? How about the value of just the tranny itself? Any interest?

See if parting it out would bring in more $. BTW, just looking at the intake manifold and TB should tell you what you're looking at.

It's still a 4g and is the same thing I have in my car. Stock for stock in great condition can get a little bit more for it if it's a full long block as the intake, turbo, exhaust and injectors are different. All-in-all, anyone modding their DSM will change those parts regardless so it's pointless to pay more money than pulling a motor from the junk yard.
