Uh, Misawa?,
Asia
Hello to all. Being new to the site, I know all forums are very informative on automotive problems and valuable information on vehicle repair and tech specs. This time, It's not on information that concerns my brother's car ( 2g 95 GSX ) but a newly aquired but somewhat dilapitated EVO 1 that I can't seem to get any feedback from elsewhere. I'm still waiting for my registration to clear on a couple of other forums for now and being as such, I'll start my first post here.
1) My starter is shot. I've already pulled it and found that it doesnt look much different then any other starter from your "run of the mill" 4g63's. I have also found once on a forum FAQ search that Evo's 1-3 use the same motor as all 2g's. If so, would a starter from a 2g do the job?
2) The clutch is toast. I'm seriously considering the ACT 2100 street kit, but not sure if a DSM clutch will bolt right up. I've done a clutch job on a Skyline GTS-4 not long ago and that was a pain. I've done a job in the past on a VW golf and learned that by removing all connecting hoses / electrical lines, removing the RF wheel (and wheel hub? ), unbolting the nearest motor mount on the transmission, the motor assembly drops and the tranny with transfer case ( in theory ) should slide off after removing all bolts around the bellhousing and disconnect the driveshaft. Has anyone done a job like this on a GSX or TSI and know how difficult it is?
Thanx in advance.
