I want to upgrade to a FMIC and would like to know if the ETS street kit interferes with the stock fans. I have a Koyo radiator with stock fans and shrouds and would like to keep my set up as is for now. I will consider any other short route kit that does not require a slim fan.
Thanks

His concern is whether or not the j-pipe is going to hit the stock fan since they are so big. I beleive on a stock fan system it will hit but the fan can be trimmed to make the piping fit while keeping the stock fans. Especially with the extra thick Koyo core.

Well then a good idea would be to purchase another used driver-side a/c fan and mount it in plase of the passenger fan. Fits like stock, and no need to wire/install slim fans.

I spoke with ETS about this same issue not long ago. If you don't have a down facing turbo and utilize a J-pipe (16G turbo for example) you will need to trim the AC fan shroud, or install a slim fan.

I have a 68HTA turbo (identical to a 16g in this sense) and the ETS Street/Strip kit I have with the short route piping would NOT let me use the stock fans. Swapped to slimlines.

Did you have to replace both fans? I thought you only had to replace the AC fan.

I run the 7" Street FMIC with their piping kit along with a 68HTA and I'm able to use my stock radiator fan without any trimming or modifications with a Koyo rad. The piping, however, interferes with the AC fan (j-pipe routes too close to the radiator) so I had to take it off; I don't have a compressor anyway so it wasn't a big issue but certainly put an end to my hopes of running AC in the future. At this point, only a 12" slim fan will fit there without any trouble.

When I had my Borg S256, the stock rad fan definitely didn't fit, even with trimming.

Thanks a lot for all the responses.
If the triming of the shroud is minimal, why not slightly flaten the pipe? It would only cause a minor flow restriction.
Does anyone have pictures of the ETS as installed? It will give a better understanding of what I need to do and decide for the best way to go without breaking the bank.

yea it only hits one fan, I am running the ets 1g street FMIC right now. Unfortunately I have an FAL fan setup, so I had to go and buy another J-pipe.

If you wanna use both fans I suggest getting the dejon tool jpipe. I got it with the elbow to the left (drivers side.)

Would you give a little bit more details on this? Would this J pipe allow the piping from the turbo to the intecooler to be routed below the fans? How about the piping coming out of the cooler and going to the throttle body? Would it be OK if the routing of the inlet pipe to the intercooler is changed? I am of course still refering the ETS kit.

There is quite a bit of trimming and hacking of the stock AC fan, but some people have made it work. If you decide to go with a slim fan I would recommend a Spal fan. I did a lot of research as I recommend you do and Spal fans have a great reputation.
