ok so i have a 1990 tsi and would like an eprom ecu everything is completely stock and i mean everything. My goal for this car is about 300-350whp i want it still as a DD. Heres my question im wanting to do 2 step but keep everything else at base levels for a lil ( CASH LOW ) but i also want the option to be there that i can change everything once i start my upgrades ex: injectors, turbo, studs, port polish, well u get the idea. whats the cheapest way to do this? EPROM?.....i want to do ecmlink as well but not for a while. so..... please give me ideas and links thank you:thumb:

What advantage is launch control going to give an otherwise stock car? You could launch better just by holding the car at 4000rpms and slowly letting the clutch out until the car starts to move then take your foot off the clutch entirely.

Launch control (stutterbox) on a otherwise stock car is useful for scaring off the ricers. You set the limiter to something like 4k and bounce off it when they rev at you at the stoplight.

If you have an EPROM ECU it's just socketing and a chip. The ECU and socketing would then be reusable with ECMLink later.

If its not it can be converted for 135 at ecmllink. Ive seen prices around 180 for eproms on the forums here. You can get the ecu changed and get link anytime.

Depends, you can find example code for a simple stutterbox on the DSMECU archives if you have access to a EPROM burner. Having someone make you a chip ranges in price depending on what else you want done and what they want for their time. DSMChips makes custom EPROMS and the high end is ECMLink.

You have to have the EPROM ECU first before you can do anything else.

Ok eprom stands for erasable programmable read only memory, is a type of memory chip that retains its data when its power supply is switched off. You have to send it in, have the stock chip unsoldered, the socket soldered in, and your chip plugged back in. All of this will never give you launch control. You then have to purchase a chip, ecmlink or one of the others around. With ecmlink you'll have to set it up yourself. The others they program it for you. Plug it in and there ya go...
