1G EPROM ECU help?

Well, I bought a rebulit eprom ecu and a chip on ebay, I put the chip in it and hooked it up but when I tried to start the car it wouldn't. The engine was tring to start but didn't so I put my old ecu back in and it fired right up. Is there a right and wrong way to put a chip in????? With the eprom ecu, the engine was acting like it was tring to fire on 3 cylinders but like I said my original ecu works just fine

Sounds like ebay did you wrong. There is only one way to hook up an ECU, as the pinouts are size co-ordinated. It sounds like they sent you a bad ECU. Contact the seller or post some negative seller feedback.

If you still have the factory eprom chip, put that in and see if it starts.


I bought a bad eprom off ebay too, mine started a small fire

These "upgraded chips" are all over ebay. Buy from someone legit like www.dsmchips.com or pay for DSMlink and be done with it.

I contacted the company that I bought it from and they said send it back and they will exchage it for a non-turbo ecu + 200.00 refund because they don't make or they haven't heard of a epom ecu for a 1.8 non-turbo

The company found an 1.8 non-turbo eprom ecu which they would make an even exchange which makes me happy to hear that
