eprom ecu

k i really dont wanna go the ebay route if i dont have to so does anyone know of a online store where they sell the right ecu so i can instal a dsmlink in my 99 gst... i know i need one out of... prefabably a 95 ... but can i have one out of a 1g without modding anything else??? what would i have to mod....im tryin to keep my mas for now....

Since you have a 2G model your only option is an eprom from a 95 GST/GSX. Using one from a 1G would mean a lot of modding to the ecu, which is just not worth the effort. The last time I looked ffwdconnection.com sold them as well as dsmchips.com. Also look on here or dsmtrader for people who are selling them. Of course if your feeling adventurous you could search around the local scrap yards and maybe come up lucky. Whatever you choose if your not good with electronics then let DSMlink re-socket the ECU for you. Check out their site for all the information, dsmlink.com.

a 1g ECU (obd1) is not even remotley compatable with a 2g (obd2).

Yeah I know how you feel about people not knowing what a GST/GSX is. I know of only 3 turbo'd DSM's in my county and I've only seen them once or twice. Its hard to get some help working on the car or even picking up some things at junkyards. Good luck on the search tho.

I guess i got lucky because i got a 95 eprom for my 99 GSX off of ebay for 75.00 and had it checked out and all it was good.....whew! you can also check some online junk yard sites. I can't really remember the site but it think it is parts.com or something to close to that. when i remember i'll let you know ASAP

Just an eeprom ECU won't give you any gains by itself, but if you get the eeprom custom programmed then you will. You can get a more aggressive map set up for whatever injector you are running, even stock. On stock injectors it probably wouldn't be a huge difference though. If you decide to upgrade to bigger injectors then it will be very helpful.

Like B-Dog said check out ffwdconnection.com. I'm looking for one too and they were quick to respond to my emails, but are currently out of stock. What you can do is go to their site and "buy" one and they won't charge you until they have one in stock for you. But at least you'll get on their list for one.
