hi, i have a 1991 eagle talon tsi awd... it is an automatic and i have a couple of questions.. someone told me that my car needs new cams, due to it being an auto matic.... they said they detuned the car to make the turbo spool quicker.... is this true,if so what are the other things i have to change. i swaped out the auto turbo and put the manual turbo in my car, cause i was told it is bigger and better than the auto..... with my car can i go up to at least 16psi with stock injectors....
thank you for the support
answers are greatly appreciated

You are not going to be able to safely run 16psi with your current setup. The auto only has 390cc injectors where the manual has 450cc injectors. You could always swap in a 5spd ecu and 450's but still need to rewire the fuel pump before you start increasing boost.

Did you swap the exhaust manifold when you swapped turbos? If not, I would recommend getting a 2g turbo manifold to go along with the 14b. The stock auto manifold has smaller ports and flows less than the 5spd and a lot less than the 2g manifold. The 2g manifold is also less prone to cracking than the 1g manifold.

The auto cams are different and can be swapped with manual cams but I wouldnt worry about them until you complete the other mods first.

a lot of people say to rewire the pump by putting in a bigger gauge wire.
but in the future when you upgrade your fuel pump, you're still going to have the bigger wire unless you go back to stock size. so in turn, that makes the upgraded fuel pump flow even more which can be an issue unless you get an Aftermarket Fuel Pressure Regulator.
so i would check and see what you want the car for, meaning what are your goals with it, and then go from there.
in my personal opinion, i'd upgrade the ECU to a manual ECU, definitely go with the 2g exhaust manifold, upgrading your injectors to 550's and get at least a 190lph fuel pump, and an AFPR and boost controller. you'll be able to get a better fuel efficiency that way and be able to control the boost. if you don't already have them, get some gauges before anything else. i.e. boost, egt, and oil pressure, and if you have the money, get a wideband o2 (as long as it'll fall within your future plans, because you won't need it if you're just looking for a slightly quick street car.) look into exhaust as well.

i say 550's because you're going to want to increase boost later on i'm assuming. it's always best to have the supporting mods before you start doing the mods that need the support.

[edit] but keep in mind, you will need to get the items to tune with also before you just go out and get the 550's and decide to run it like that.
