You can toss in the 4g64 from a NT Spyder. It allows you to have a 2.4 stroker instead of the 2.3 that is from the 4g63 block.

Is there something wrong with your motor?

a engine from a 90 to 99 eclipse gst or gsx fits.. also a 90 to 94 plymouth laser
Evo 1- 5

Evo 1- 5 (i think more too) galant vr4, hyundai elantra 4g63

There's also the 4g63 from 90-94 that'll work. There's the 4g63T from 1990-1999 found in Talons, Lasers, and Eclipses that'll work too. The 1990-1992 engine swap is known as a "6 bolt swap". If you need more info, search.

Just so you know, the Evo motors are the same as the ones you have in your vehicle now so Don't go spending high dollar thinking you are getting something better.

yea i was going to rebuilt the one i have, but i took off the head last night and one of the rockers from the exhasut cam 3rd cylinder was just laying in the head, and the oil smelt burnt, and on top of that the 3rd cylinder has a crack. So New motor time.

Ah. As everyone else said, all DSMs from 90-99 will fit in the bay. The 6 bolt will require some modifications but has a stronger bottom end.

The better combo would be a 6 bolt bottom and a 7 bolt head (better head design).

You are nowhere near ready to start swapping engines about. It's time to read, a lot.

This is not criticism, this is helpful advice.

Only evo 1-3 would be ok, evo 4-9 is different orientation.

any eclipse, talon, laser engines. 4g63 short block is probably the best. its the same engine in your car. just get it rebuild.

Hopefully the shop is friends and they are giving you a hella discount, because 700 is a super deal. If they are going to do a head rebuild and fix a cylinder with a crack. Either they are going to have to bore or replace the head. A new head will cost you around $350 from a shop.

Hope it works out.... Sounds sketchy to me.

If they are trying to only charge you 700 bucks most likely something like this is going on.

They are trying to charge you WAY more than 700 and are going to be like SUPRISE! We got your engine done for just 2800 dollars since there was more wrong with it than we thought and you have to pay in full before we have it shipped back to us from our warehouse!

Or something like this. Did you notice your head was bent in a U shape and your block had a big ass hole in it? We didn't either but I swear it wasn't us!

You can always use 90-92 Rods with your current pistons. The 6 bolt rods are thicker than the 7 bolt engines. For a stock bottom end this in my opinion is the best mod that you can do. the 7 bolt bottom end has a higher compression than the 6 bolt. I think the 6 bolt rods can handle 500hp.

I dont think its like that with these guys, they are the best shop in town, the charge 50 bucks to hone, and 60 to clean the block, 60 to machine my head, and 18 to clean it, and 170 to rebuild. They are cheap, but it might be ### im military, and the town i live in loves military, and they are recomended by everyone.

Sooo 700 dollars and all of those prices you just told us are maybe 300. Are they getting you a new block
