Sup everyone,

have a prob. i have been searching the forums and have found a couple
that seem to be similiar to mine.
here the Story:

my friend borrowed my car to pick up his girl and while on the
way over there he says the car started to stall then while at a
red light the car completely turned off. when i showed up
we turn the key and the engine turns but wont start.
sounds like its about to turn on but doesnt get there.

some say bent valves, others say fuel system (fuel pump, injectors, etc.)
but im not sure. i just installed an Evo III 16G with manifold, o2
etc. checked the battery and terminals are fine. looked at
all the vaccuum hoses and connections...everything looks ok.
i have pretty muched crossed out the possibility of a vaccuum leak
since the engine won't even start.

had new belts installed like 15-25k miles ago at the dealership.
maybe original injectors and definitely original fuel pump.
my car has 77k miles and i use synthetic oil (if that matters)
i have a set of 550cc waiting to be installed but havent yet
since i dunno if i need to use my AFC to control them for idle.
clutch engages fine. im going nucking futs and probably won't
be able to sleep tonite..

any help will be really appreciated! thanks!

i mean like watered down bad gas. but if it had been running fine on it for 2 days i dont think that would be the problem.

I had a similar prob with my 97 GST. It would start cold but after it warmed up it would not start. It would turn over just fine but would not fire. I had it towed to dealership--they said it was a bad cam sensor. It's been going good ever since they changed it. My brother also had the same prob with his 98 GS.

:dsm:

i did a compression test today and it seems like zero!
it goes to 100 then right back to zero...so i think that confirms my
worst fear of the timing belt syndrome!

any thoughts?

btw, how much am i gonna get raped for this job at the dealership
or a mechanic???

and while taking the plugs out i noticed they are all black lookin
burnt.

ok just came back from the dealership and they told me it might just be the plugs fouled up. i had an extra set so i changed em. turned the key.
NOTHIN! same shit...

also the compression has now gone down to 75 then to zero which
the mechanic tells me might not be the car but the gauge itself
since its suppost to hold the pressure but isnt doing so.

im totally lost now since wut i thought was the belt doesnt seem
to be and now he is tellin me it might be the ECU.

WTF is going on!?!?

its one thing when u know whats wrong with your car and all
you gotta worry about is fixin it..but it sux a phat one when u have
no friggin clue wut it is!

anyone?!?

Check your Cam Angle Sensor.

If you bent some valves you would hear metallic noises.

Check the crank sensor too. You'll need a multimeter. I don't have my shop manual here, but with the cam sensor plugged in, you have to probe 2 wires (stick 2 neeles into the connector) and check the resistance. It could very well could be that. Someone with a manual should be able to get you the stats.

Also check and make sure your transistor pack is plugged in. Its a long plug right above your fuel rail. That may have died on you too.
Could be coil pack...

Don't just be bumping this. You have been told to check

#1 timing belt
#2 crank angle sensor
#3 cam angle sensor
#4 bad gas.

Have you checked these things?

And buy a new compression tester that works and check the compression....

We can't help you if you won't listen :D there are no magic answers.

YOU KNOW WHAT BRO I HAVE THE SAME FUC*EN PROBLEM WITH MY CAR BUT MY CAR DIDNT SHUT OFF ....IT JUST DIDNT TURN ON THE LAST TIME I TURN THE KEY...THE ENGINE TURNS BUT DONT START....IM GETTING THE SAME ANSWER YOUR GETTING ON YOU POST BUT CHECK THIS......I WAS TOLD TODAY THAT IT WAS THE COIL PACK BUT THAT DIDNT WORK SO THERE SAYING ITS THE ECU.

i had a 1g laser turbo with a six bolt in it did the same thing ended up being jumped timing with valve damage, probably didnt help but thats what it sounds like to me.
