Engine swaps-maybe the wrong place to post this?

Was wondering if anyone here has messed with the late '80's turbo dodge engines, that might know if they would work with an eagle talon transmission? I'm still new to this forum stuff so I'm not quite sure what to do to reach the 30 post requirement.

if your talking about the turbo II motors, its not gonna work.

with some skills you could probably get a 4g63T engine and trans swapped in.
if i had the resources i would cram a 4g in a dodge omni / plymoth horizon. I would make sure that it looked like a POS on the outside, no one would expect the ass woopin they would get.

Not intending to dismiss your response, but can you provide any evidence that it won't work? Have you tried or know someone who has? There are currently two AWD Omni's using minivan parts, one with an srt4 engine, not sure what the other car has. What would make it not work with the talon parts?

To start the motor is the wrong way around

That must be year specific, the eagle talon I looked at just the other day had a driver side transmission.

Did they make non turbo AWD? Or would it be possible to convert to AWD on that platform?
No, not with chrysler/dodge motor. Only n/t awd would have been the galant GSX I believe, possibly the AMG galant as well, but not sure on the AMG. But those are still 4g variant, and therefore oriented the wrong direction in the engine bay.

Your best bet would be to use Evo 4-9 parts. But then you might as well ditch the Dodge motor all together, or for that matter, the car. Of you're dead set on making the Dodge motor/car work, find the Evo parts and make your adapters. it won't be bolt on, will be tons of fab, and most likely not be worth it in the end.

I assumed there's be plenty of fab work considering what it takes to use the proven minivan conversion. So whatever I use I'd assume I'll have to make an adapter plate as well as maybe shave down my engine block some on top of everything else to keep my cable driven gauge cluster and the stock 15" rims. I'm just trying to do research, ask questions and what not to find out if there are other ways of achieving the AWD setup than using minivan parts.
