Engine swap Q's time running out sorry if repost

hello guys i'm new to the forum and joined because was told is the best when it comes to eclipse and talon

ok here is my situation and sorry for all my ignorance but i don't know nothing about these cars

my cousin owns a automatic talon tsi fwd that was rear ended,everything in engine works but the intercooler, he was going to sell it to a local auto salvage for $300 but i told him to wait one more day.I saw a 98 eclipse non turbo 2.0 liters manual selling for real cheap so my question is of course is i can fit the talon engine to the eclipse body using the eclipse manual transmission or using the automatic from the talon or it can't be done period

i rather use manual even if the one from the eclipse wont work, im willing to buy the one that fits is the engine swap is possible,i have until tomorrow to keep the talon otherwise he will sell it to auto salvage

Talon TSI = 4G63
Eclipse RS/GS = 420A

You also can't go from auto to manual w/o a lot of work and modification (welding) because the motor mounts won't line up. I don't even think the trans will mate up to the bell housing.

Motors are different don't think the TSI motor will mate up to the Eclipse 5spd trans. Also not the sure the engine harnesses would line up considering the TSI is turbo and the Eclipse is N/A. Would have to find a different ECU and/or engine harness.

ok even if it don't fit i still can do the swap and either use turbo trans or buy the correct turbo manual trans or swap can't be done at all?

I would find another 2G 4G63 shell or you can try to swap everything over, may have to find another engine harness/ECU to go with the 4G63 + manual trans though.

A.) Find another 1G 4G63 shell and just drop it in
B.) Find a 2G 4G63 shell w/ engine harness and ECU, also find the 2G FWD transmission (unless you want AWD, then find an AWD shell and AWD trans)[/QUOTE

i see you are right after reading a while this and some other forums everybody seems to agree it takes to much time and effort and is not worth it

but why you say another 1G shell turbo motor comes from a 2G talon Eclipse is a 2G also so ????????

Pretty much, if your cousin has the time and money I am sure it can be done. But when you can pick up a clean 2G that is already manual and turbo for ~$3-5k (and running) why bother? Hopefully your cousin has good insurance and they can either fix it up or pay him out.

Ahhh just saw your edit! Talon is a 95, let me re-edit.

P.S. You guys could pull the motor and try to sell it or parts of it. May not get a whole lot sine it's a 7-bolt, but may get more than $300 after junking it. Same goes with the interior.
