engine swap or rebuild the engine?

i have a 98 eclipse gst and i want to know what engine i can swap on my car to make it faster or should i just rebuild the motor? it's either that or sell it cause i'm at 96500 miles on the car.

I don't think putting a motor ON your car will make it faster.

Seriously though take the same amount of time it took you to register and search this site. Every question you could ever want has probably already been asked numerous times on here.

GSX engine and GST engine are the same. They are both Turbocharged 4g63 blocks. The difference is in the tranny. AWD vs FWD. Best advice I can give would be to upgrade the current motor as much as you can with bolt ons. Think ahead to the future, and what your goals are and build from there. If you can try to only put parts on the car that can be swapped over to your built motor, weather you do 6 bolt OR 7 botl build. If you get parts that can just transfer over it will be much easier, and faster to do a future build. Example of parts to start with would be front mount intercooler, shocks/springs, turbo charger (16G perhaps), can get bigger injectors, some tuning device/software (DSMlink cant go wrong..) Simple bolt ons to start.

No point in building a nice 7bolt just to have it walk a few miles later. Although crank walk is OVERRATED.. it does happen, we all know it.
