Ok sooo i have the oppertunity to pick up a 6 bolt engine, and was wondering if it was worth it. I now have the 4g63t which i think is crankwalking. Would it just be smarter to rebuild my 7 bolt with a new crank or or build the 6 bolt. And if its build the 6 bolt what will have to modify for it to work in my 2g eclipse?

Here's some information on doing the swap. 6 Bolt Motor Install Into a 2G Eclipse

Also the 6 bolt rods are stronger than the 7 bolt rods and the 6 bolt head flows alot better when compared stock to stock with a 7 bolt! I have personally done the swap before and it's not that bad! Just take your time and do things right!

I would just rebuild the 7 bolt. It will be a lot less of a pain in the ass than swapping in a 6 bolt.

6-bolt swap is a drop in replacement, with a Hyundai oil pump. Even doing it the old way with the 1g cas, it's not hard at all. I would go as far to say that if you can't grind a mount, and solder 4 wires, what are you doing working on a turbo, fuel injected, awd car anyway?

If your plans with the car isn't to get insane power; I'd just rebuild the 7-bolt. It's alot easier. If you're planning to build it in the future it's up to you, a 7-bolt could handle enough but a 6-bolt is always a safe bet. OP, are you/can you do the work yourself or are you having it done by someone else?

If you read the article supreme posted, There is a decent amount of modification required

The article is outdated. A Hyundai oil pump is a 6-bolt oil pump with a provision for a crank sensor. It is even easier to use a 1g cas. I have done 6-bolt swaps, they are no more difficult than any other modification to a 4g63 based car.

ok thanks guys, well it turns out that the kid that had it b4 me has messed some stuff up, and no i dont wanna go insane power with it. So Ill ###### just stick with the rebuild advise and throw an after market crank in, would that help or would the problem if it was crank walking still be an issue later on?
