I picked up a 6bolt for my 95 tsi (walked), and also an engine stand. I was wondering what the best place would be to bolt up to on the block? Also, what bolts should I use and where can I get some? I don't have any spare bolts or anything I can use, so I need to buy some either way.

Any help would be great,

grade 8 will be fine

My Question is where do you connect an engine stand up too on our motors? I have pulled my engine from my gsx because I spun a rod bearing am need to have the crank resurfaced. I borrowed an engine hoist from a friend to pull it, but he needs it back so I got an engine stand from autozone. I just don't know where to attach it to the motor. Thanks, JB

i just bought a 6bolt 4g63 shortblock for $150 from a local yard. i took it to my work and used an industrial high heat pressure washer & engine degreeser to clean it all out. now its on the floor in my garage becasue i can figure out how to put it on the stand. i bought a new 1 ton stand for $35, it has the adapter plate that comes off so you can bolt the 4 brakcets to where ever your supose to bolt them, then lift the engien up, and slide it in the mounting hole and secure it with a bolt. well, i have on idea where im suppose to bolt these 4 brackets to the motor. i dont even know what bolts i need to buy to bolt it on. im sure alot of you are going to laugh! i would =). but i would love to get this thing on the stand so my wife can put her car in the garage tonight.

so, if anyone could tell me what holes are ment to be used for mounting the 6 bolt to the stand, and what bolts i need to buy from a hardware store or from the mitsu dealer, i would shower you with praise. thanks everyone.

tranny bolts. i'll have to go down to the mitsu dealership ang get those. just 4? i bought a shortblock that is block/crank/barrings/rods/pistions. no bolts, nothing. thanks for the piictuer, it did help a little but not enought. =) thanks for your reply.

go to the hardware store and get some m10 bolts pitch is 1.25 and make sure there about 5 or 6 inches long. also grab acouple washers while your there.

do you have an engine lift?

if not attach the bracket to the motor on the ground bolt onto flywheel side. make sure everything is really tight. Than have your wife help you lift it and slide it onto the actual stand :thumb:

hope that helps

here's a tip: if you can't find bolts that will fit use some spare crank main bolts, they have the correct thread pitch to fit in the 4 tranny bolt holes if you trim the arms of your engine stand a little shorter. You can also be sure that they won't break and drop a 300 pound motor on your foot...... :p

damnit i got 2 blocks just sitten here with the mains out i didn't even think about

it i just went and wasted 20 bucks on those darn metric bolts

I had some spare bellhousing bolts(long ones) that I used... The engine stand I got from Northern Tool was a universal engine stand but was made more for V8 engines than anything... The spacers on the mounts gave about 3 inches of clearance between the mount and the block... I cut them(the L shaped pieces) down to an inch and a half so that I could use the bellhousing bolts.

take a bell housing bolt to the parts store and tell them you want a bolt like this but only longer(know what length you want)they will know what grade you need.

There 10mm ,the head of them is 14mm.It doesn't matter what grade, your only bolting it to a stand. They need to be about an inch longer than the spacers on your stand. You need big flat washers too. Please don't ruin your stand to use bell housing bolts. The spacers are that long so you can install things like rear main seals while the engine is on the stand.
