I just bought a 1g AWD eagle talon. The car really vibrates until the Rpm's reach around 2500 to 3000 then it smoothes out. Will the balanced shafts being removed cause this? It actually feels like a fourwheel drive truck with mud tires it until around 3000 and then it smooths out. Do I have anything to worry about with this?

There should be a little vibration.....seems like you're describing something else however. How's the suspension setup? Tie rod ends? It could be a few things. Where (in the car) are you feeling the vibes??? A little more descriptive, please.....

Ive never read or heard that the balance shaft being removed would cause a LOT of vibration. It does cause more engine vibration but not enough to make the car shake incredibly too much. Might be something else. How is idle? And what kind of vibration is it. Use the old screwdriver trick to locate where the vibration/noise is coming from, that'll help narrow it down.

If it has urathane motor mounts it will dramatically increase the engine vibrations. My car vibrates a ton, but it is not completely balanced, I have the balance shafts removed and prothane motor mounts. My whole car shakes at idle only really though. Once I get over 1000 rpm's it gets better.

After driving the car again last night it feels like the car is being held back and virates pretty bad and the around 2500 to 3000 it smooths out. It does this in every gear as long as the rev's are under 3000. I have new struts, and new tie rod ends on the driver's side. Could this be caused by an axle? How about the drive shaft or a U-joint?

Yea. I let it warm up it does it all the time even if I drive the car for 2 hours and stop it does it. I can't figure out what could be causing this... OH well I got to keep looking.

Has anyone said anything about possibly your carrier bearings or u-joints? That would be my very first guess.

No. I was thinking about that tonight. I am going to check those tommorrow. Thanks for the insight though. I also notice if I let off of the gas while moving sometimes there is a popping sound coming from under the car so I thought maybe a carrier bearing?

I've been having problems with my '90 Eclipse GS vibrating also, and having it run rough and stalling out when I put it into reverse and drive (a/t btw). I know its in bad need of a tune up, which I'm working on now... doing the plugs and wires (ngk) and replacing my fuel filter. But as far as the vibrating goes, a mechanic I know told me it was possibly the motor mounts, or that my timing was slightly off. The man I bought the engine off of did a few things to it to find some more power, one of which was shaving the head down... Which evidently requires the timing to be adjusted? I'm still in the learning process of engine work, so any help on my situation is greatly appreciated.

Also check out the motor mounts, their right about it. My stock mounts were fried and I vibrated constantly. Didn't have the extra cash at time so I "remade" the mounts filling them with a type of liquid nails to make a solid mount. Vibrates on start up and on idle but smooths out a ton cruzin.

It's definately either the engine or the drivetrain. Hard to decide which one it is. It acts like it is straining to take off until around 2500 to 3000 then it frees up.

Are you 100% sure that the b-shafts are removed.
if not perhaps the firewall side b.s. is 180 out. That will cause a nasty vibration untill about 3k rpms.

No I was going on what I was told. I will verify if they are removed or not tommorrow.
