Engine redlines upon startup

ok i just did a motor swap my old 420a blew up so i put another in ai finally got it to fire up and it goes straight to red line what would cuase this? i really need this car to run its my daily driver

Either a HUGE vacuum leak at intake manifold or between intake manifold and throttle body, or your throttle body isnt closing all the way because your throttle cable is improperly adjusted.

i also have a fuel pressure regulator and i never installed it and im like guessing on how it goes back on

found the prob thanks and do you kno how to adjust the idle its running real high

A high idle could be a lot of things. Check that the throttle cable isnt too tight. It can keep the throttle plate open if it is. You can adjust the idle with the biss screw on top of the throttle body. Also make sure you dont have any vacuum leaks anywhere.
