Engine rebuild or no.

I am the owner of a 1990 eclipse gs, it has roughly 200,000 miles on it, i want to tune it though, but i don't know to much about cars. I really don't want to pour a couple thousand dollars into this car to have it die on me in a couple years or sooner. I have read alot about problems with the 1990 eclipses like idle problems and such, but my car never has had that problem, it runs great, it is a little bit shaky when sitting idle, but never shuts down. Basically i want to know if i should rebuild my engine before buying headers, turbo, intake, etc... And if not, is there any part specifically i should replace? like wires, plugs, etc. I will rebuild if necessary simply because 1g eclipses are just hard to find in good shape, and in my opinion they are the best looking. Also, if i do have to rebuild how much will it cost? a rough estimate please.

well compression test and or leak down test will tell you the condition of the engine

Lol thanks, i luckily have a meeting with a custom car shop owner tomorrow for an art piece for his business, maybe we can just trade services .

+1 on the compression test. AND as im sure you will find out from searching (Its the big yellow button in the middle-top of the page)...You may want to do the routine maintenance first and maybe clean out the throttle body and whatnot. A rebuild may cost you anywhere from 2k-5k+ depending on where you go, what part are used and the machining involved.
