engine question

I have a 93 tsi talon 7 bolt and I just have a question as to why my sticker on the engine bay says 4g63 I doubt this was ever a n/t car

420a is the nt motor
4g63 is the turbo motor, and in some 1gs it came as an nt as well with higher compression

The t is for turbo! There is a 4g63 non turbo and a 4g63 turbo.

as far I know only in 1g dsm's you would see a 4g63 N/T ; 2g's only come with 4g63t if they are turbo'd and 420A if they are non turbo and 4g64 only in Spyders unless they are turbo then they would be fitted with the 4g63T!

There is no 1g with 420a.

There is no "4G63T" engine code. The "T" is added on to designate to each of us shorthandedly that it is a turbo engine rather than a non-turbo. Mitsubishi never designated them as such.

And as stated above, the 1G non-turbo engine was one of two variations, the 1.8L 4G37 and the 2.0L 4G63. It never came with the 420A, the non-turbo engine for 2G cars that weren't convertibles. International domestic market 2Gs, like in Europe, had either the non-turbo or turbo 4G63; the 420A was not offered there.
