Engine noise please help

2g 96 eagle talon tsi 4g63t fwd, 180,000 miles. 14b turbo swap, hard inter cooler piping and tubular header, other then that engine is stock..

Can you guys help with this? I am about to start throwing shit seriously damn dsm's , is my engine toast ?? here is a sound clip recorded off my phone that was sitting right in front of the head right above the manifold.

I have noticed a little loss of power since i started hearing this knocking noise but not enough to were the car doesn't run right., so i thought it was my 14b turbo i just installed; so i pulled the intake pipe and checked my turbo for shaft play, absolutely none. So i got under the hood with car running and revved it up through the throttle body and this is what i hear coming from the engine. Please help, i am lost and don't know if i should go looking for a new head or a new engine..

You could always do a BSE. Could fix your problem, and if not it's one less thing to break in the future..

Your guess is as good as mine. Highly doubt youll squeak by without pulling the engine :/

I dont mind having to pull the engine but would you think the engine would be rebuildable or should i find another?

Stop trying to guess and go diagnose the problem. No way of knowing until you do. Best case scenario: the balance shaft(s) worn, remove them and move on. Worst case, a spun rod bearing, which means the crank/rod will need repaired/replaced; or a main bearing is worn, but rarely does that happen.

sounds like a stuck lifter or rod knock but defintely hard to tell. i would take off your oil pan and inspect your bearings.

Clipto, fyi tubular manifolds arent all cheap with shitty welds fyi. And not all crack.

All I said is just said be careful with them , I have ran them before and they where good for awhile and eventually all cracked for me.

OK guys, i got the oil pan off and got up in there with a light and camera and decided to whip a wrench .. check out this video and give me any advise you guys can give me please... on a budget, trying to get this fixed as cheap as possible any insight would be appreciated.. oh and i am not trying to disassemble and reassemble my self.. I could probably take the engine out and put it back in but that's about it..

Alright guys i know i already marked this thread as Resolved but a few of you were asking for a video of the crank with the bearing off. In My Experience Rod KnockIs The Only Thing That Sounds Like That...Looks like tha crank got ate up a bit from the spun bearing...not sure on your options of replacing or being able to clean it up and put a bigger bearing on.

Your best bet is going to be picking up a used short block.
