I DID IT O BUT I USED CASTROL DEGREASER I JUST SPRAYED IT ON AND LET IT SET FOR ABOUT 2MINUTES AND SPRAYED IT OFF
YOU CANT LET IT SET FOR TO LONG BECAUSE IT WILL EAT YOUR PAINT

I've got a test for it :D

I think i'm getting an 88 bronco tomorrow. has a crack in the exaust manifold so the whole engine is covered in black carbon!! Cant see anything in the engine that is not covered in carbon...

maybe i should try this stuff and see what happens :)

but once i start drivin the truck again the carbon will come back and probably stick better than before with all that tire stuff on there

Buy a couple of cans of the Gunk Engine Brite and just spray it where ever it needs cleaned. I did that and it worked pretty good, brake parts cleaner works really well also probably better....just watch all electrical connections, and things along that line. When I sprayed that on mine I also took the hose to it and sprayed it clean...just be really careful if you decide to do that also, and I would not reccomend using the hose if you are in anyway doubtful that you will mess something up.

P.S. Make sure to get a couple cans because that stuff goes pretty fast.

what kind of things can happen if i soak the engine with the hose? and how can i prevent anything from messing up? thanks

Very bad things like ruining your whole engine, I did'nt soak my engine bay with the hose I sprayed it like on the transmission where oil had ran all over it from the previous owner not maintaining it, seriously I would not reccomend doing it, but if you decide to stay away from all electrical stuff, intake, spark plugs, and pretty much anything on the "surface" of the engine bay.

I clean my engine about once a month and all I do is spray the cleaner on and hose it all off just stay away from the intake if your cover is not on. Also if you leave your car running, while you spray on the cleaner and wash it off you can hear from the engine if you are getting the water some where you shouldnt be. On the hose settings you a mist setting or light shower. Hope that helps.

I have pressure-washed several different engines, including my engine bay, with some grease remover and WD-40 and no problems at all. One time I accidentally tripped the fuel shut-off switch in a car I was cleaning (you know, the switch that shuts off fuel when you wreck so that the car doesn't blow up) but all I had to do was go to the car manual and manually "untrigger" the switch from the trunk... No other problems though!

What is the best way to clean a 4G63T engine. Some people say don't use water becuz it will get into the electrical connections and cause problems. Others say use steam it is better than water. What do you guys use on your motors?

By hand with a good degreaser. Definately would not spray water all over it.

It might take longer but why risk any damage?

I just go to the car wash, put in a couple quarters, cover the engine and hood with the 'degreaser' button. Then I hit the 'high pressure soap'. After that I use the 'high pressure rinse'.

Just don't spray your exhuast manifold directly (it might crack since it's hot) and you should be fine. Put a plastic bag over your K&N, too. It will come out pretty clean.

If you really want, get a few cans of GUNK degreaser, coat the whole engine, you'll hear it 'sizzle', let it sit for about 5-10 minutes, then spray it off. You can spray some armor all in there too aftewards if you want it to 'shine', thats what most used car dealers do.

i just covered the engine bay with GUNK Engine Degreaser then used the waterhose with a spray nozzle. I didn't cover anything and it worked fine. No electrical damage or engine damage.

well i want to clean everything under my hood as you can see its really dirty. i already did it once w/ gunk but was mainly concentrating on the head and valvecover to check for oil leaks.

whats the best engine cleaner ? basically i just want to cover my filters and the fuseboxes and really hose it down good and let it sit then rinse it out.

I have tried everything and Greased Lightning has far outperformed every other brand. Just spray it on there and rinse it off, it should get almost all the grease and grime off. Then go back to the bad spots with a brush and scrub for a couple of seconds.

brakekleen...... just watch where you spray it
