"real" braided hoses are rather expensive. you can get braided sleeves for alot less pretty much anywere. summit racing has alot of dress-up items.

do the sleeves look good? can you even tell a diferance between real and sleeves. because i think thaat i have seen the sleeves before and they have the covers for the end of each hose dont they so u can not see the end fraying.

thanks for all the help i think i am going to go buy the sleeve kit for the radiator hose. what else do they make sleeves for and you said summit has them right.

thanks, I want to still keep my AC and power steering and crauise control. I do plan on removing some of the lines and relocating my alternator but what do i do with the MAP and lines. will i pop any codes, my charcoal canister is located in the front right side bumper area. what do i do with this connectors? I am getting a Magnus intake manifold but there is no way to mount the MAP sensor or other plugs.

what i meant what else dothey look good on. i have a 95 talon tsi fwd.

i had those SS sleeve kit on my car and i really don't like it. they can cover all your hoses if you have enough but honestly i think those kits look better on old style engines V8 and classic cars.

You have to ditch the MDP Sensor and EGR with a Magnus. You can still pas an Etest.

Also eliminating the charcoal canister and all associated lines will help clean things up.

There's a good write up on how to install the Magnus in the Tech/DIY Section.

Did I see a full cage in your car and still running the T-25.

Yes you did. The guy before me, an older gentleman, was really into auto-xing and time attacks and wanted to stiffen up the chassis as much as he could, so if put a cage in it. Also, I believe where he was racing it was required. Now back on topic... I am in the same boat as you (want to keep my AC, Power steering, and also emissions legal) and other than moving the battery to the trunk I just don't see any other way in hiding/getting rid of hoses/wires. I tried to zip-tie wires together and it looked better. I guess re-locating the over flow bottle would help also. You have a really clean engine BTW, so as it sits right now, it looks really good.

thanks, right now my engine is all torn apart. I am doing a complete rebuild so i thought it would be a great idea to clean up a bit.

i read the article on the magnus intake manifold install (thanks by the way) and it seems pretty straight forward. it also helps in eliminating some of the hoses.

by personal experience do not use the colored hoses. they tend to get hard after awhile and look dirty. here is a picture of my engine with the colored hoses and the with out. i think it looks better black.

Is it me or are you runing to mas air sensors? If so Get rid of the mistu one and run the
ls1 mas remove the intake pipe and you can run an airfilter at the inlet of the turbo or make a pipe pointing downwerd towerds your foglight hole

re-locate the fuse box...That will move a lot of the wires on that side out of there....

By the way, clean car. I like.

those are some old pictures. i am only running the GM MAF now and i already made a Custom Cold Air intake pipe. here is a picture. once i get my other turbo in i will be changing it to a 3" pipe.

so i did the search for charcoal canister removal and found some interesting thing that are important to know

1. when the charcoal canister is removed and left uncapped you will smell fuel in your car
2. if you do cap the lines you will pressurize the fuel tank (i'm sure thats not a good thing)
3. some models have different locations for the canister (mine is locater in the front bumper)
4. it will not effect emissions. it will just smell like fuel.

there is an article on how to remove the canister but it is for the 1g but i'm pretty sure that they share the basic concept.

See I like the red colored hoses on the car. Its the blue that looks out of place. Blue and red are contrasting colors and i think that is why it looks a little "iffy". Or if you like the blue get rid of the red accessories and just run blue accessories. Personally I would keep the red items and get rid of the blue. Keep it red and polished items, kind of what i'm doing. Also, for your catch can, i can't really tell if its metal or not; but if it is metal, you could polish that also.

Leave the line unplugged and No you will not smell fuel.

i have no personal experience with this as i am looking to do it but from several threads that i read they said the smell of fuel will be stronger becuase the canister does not hold it anymore.

my catch can is from RRE and it is plastic. I installed a injen metal one but did not like it very well so i decided to mod it and use it as a coolant resevior tank (see picture^^^^)

the blue came with the hose ends and since my couplers are blue a it looked all right. the problem is that the hoses stand out with color so i pefer keeping it black plus like i said earlier the stock black ones hold out better than the colored ones.

I would like to keep my engine bay looking clean and my engine will be the first thing that catches the eye.

just keep it clean..I kept mine clean for awhile before adding some polished parts. a painted or polished valve cover looks good along with some polished aluminum parts. I have come to the point where i just want to get rid of the hoses. i will finish it when my motor is done and post pic later

thanks. while i have my motor apart i am sending it to machine shop to get bored out then over to get it powdercoated. the bottom will be red and the top i have not decided yet. i will post pics as i progress

Hey guys, I over the years I have been trying to clean up my engine bay with some powdercoated pieces along with some polished pieces. I also, try to keep it as clean as humanly possible. I just want to see, from you guys, what else you think (ideas) I should do to get more of that WOW factor when I pop the hood. Thanks
