i just moved to a county where i have to get an emissions test to get my plates so i can run legal. so i took it to the testing facility and i failed because my Check Engine Light was on reading 3 codes, a bad O2 sensor, and EVAP control system Large and Small Leak P0442 and P0455. but i passed the fuel cap test. i replaced the O2 sensor and that code disappered but the other two are still on so i went to autozone and they reset the codes and the codes came baCK after about 100 miles. i took it to a mechanic and he said that he couldnt find what was wrong so he said that he'd have to drop the tank and see what was wrong and he also said that once you fix one thing under that tank something else would crap out and might end up costing thousands. so im like what the hell do i do?:banghead:
This car has been a big pain in the ass, and i was wondering if theres any way to plug up the evap so i can pass this damn test? any way? ###? i dont want to drop the tank itll end up costing more than the cars worth and not to mention i dont have that kind of money right now anyways. its not like this thing is pouring out black smoke i just hate this whole system, i live in indiana not california ppl! haha

That sucks, I would say if it costs more than the car is worth sell it and get a turbo'd Eclipse, not that that is going to save you any money in the long run but at least you'll get more pleasure out of your dollar. GSX FTW!

dude id love that but i want one with low miles and i dont have the cash to buy a used one then i heard insurance is even more with a turbo ### im 18:( haha

My mechanic said they often do smoke tests to find the leak, as often times they can be very small and this is the only way to pinpoint the spot it's leaking. I trust mt mechanic and they really know how to troubleshoot a check engine light. Get the code scanned, and then come back with the code. Are you using the correct grade fuel?

Take it to another mechanic who can smoke the system, I do it all the time at my shop to locate evap leaks they shouldn't charge you more than an hour labor, and thats pushing it. And buy a new fuel cap, I know it passed your emission test, but I've seen them pass the test and still throw codes, it should be fairly cheap.
