I tried searching but couldnt find anything specific enough. Does anybody know if I would be able to pass emissions by eliminating the EGR system? The thing is that my car hasnt ran in over a year and Im very close to getting it running again. However, I dont know if it will affect the ecu's readiness monitors. If it does I know I wont pass the obd2 test. Would a flash with ECUflash take care of the problem? or should I leave the EGR system alone until after emissions?

I haven’t actually had an OBD2 car emission tested in Arizona before (everything I have had tested in Az was a sniff check), so I am not entirely sure but I know they do a plug in test for the monitors and if the OBD2 test there is anything like Nevada they are suppose to do a visual inspection and a monitor check. So you should probably look at keeping the EGR intact or at the very least installed...

96+ as long as there is no Check Engine light you are good to go. There is a Emissions place near the Glendale station. $100-150 guaranteed to pass & that includes him taking it to get tested. Taken several cars to him....Ha Ha

PM me if you need to know more. There are 2 shops at Glendale & the one guy is a rip off.

Bro I passed the emissions with a 3in straight pipe, no emissions at all (egr, charcol can etc), no cat, no vac lines, and i was launching my car infront of the place.

You'll be fine ROFL

Yeah I've passed in my GST with no cat and full turbo-back previously too. Its just the readiness monitors that I'm worried about. Id like to eliminate the egr system now because the motor is halfways installed. I wouldnt like to do it once everything is in the way and I had actually already started removing a bunch of the "useless" vaccuum lines that go with it as well as the assembly under the battery. I was reading about the readiness EGR monitors today and thought "Oh s**t!". I figure if the ecu doesnt see a EGR valve, the monitor wont be ok. Am I making sense?
