I just installed some projector headlights on my 2g. being the saftey freak my dad is he was like make sure you disconnect the batery. so i did. after i got the car all back together and turned the key the stereo headunit said i need to input a code. are the codes all different for each car? im calling the dealer today about that. But my more bigger problem is that it erased all my SAFC-II settings and my turbo timer wont turn on. I bought the car with the SAFC-II installed and tunned.(my dream would be to DSM link, but dont have that kind of money. so does anyone know relatively close settings for that with a big 16g turbo,FMIC, 650cc injectors, 255 fuel pump, intake and exhaust? or can anyone give me a general idea on how to tune it? i read the article on road race engineering, and most of it doesnt make sence to me...yea im a newbie so shoot me. and also why does my turbo timer not turn on now?

Any comments or advice would be great.

Bad news, its very possible you shorted out your turbo timer. It's been said anytime you have to jump your car or reset it, to unplug your timer because the initial surge of power can damage it. However, I have an Apexi and I have never had that happen.

As for the safc settings, your best bet would be to get a logger and retune it yourself, because every car is a little bit different.

Im not sure about the radio, I have a Sony headunit.

To enable your radio you will need to remove it an look for a sticker with a bunch of numbers on it.
Call or go down to the dealer and give them the numbers that you found on the sticker, they will then give you a four digit number.

When you turn on your radio you will need to use your memory keys to enter the code, i.e press memory 1 then press memory 2 then 3. Once 4 is set the radio should beep and you should be good to go.

The dealer should do it for free, if not call another one. The "many numbers" SwampRat speaks of is the serial number. It should be labeled on 2 positions of the stock deck, I forgot the exact locations, but should be on the top and the back. Again either way, they should do it for free. If you actually pay, just get an aftermarket deck haha.

As for the SAFC settings, every car is different, buy a logger and tune it yourself, or have a shop tune it, or if you are set on copying another car's settings, you already ran into RRE's page that had some settings with different setups. There is also a thread on the tuning section/engine management here on dsmtuners where members have posted theirs. The main difference with the SAFC1 and 2, is the 2 has more tuning points, so if that confused you with RRE's page because it's SAFC1 settings, just fill in the extra points with something in between or the same.

As for the turbo timer, that is weird, this is the first time I heard of disconnecting the turbo timer while jumping the car or what not. Why? Because I've jumped my car probably over 50 times and my turbo timer has worked. And its the very first Greddy turbo timer, that doesn't even have an auto setting. Double check your connections with the turbo timer, maybe something just came loose. I would be shocked if it got fried that easily, I mean I literally have thrown/abused the one I have, it's been through 3 of my DSMs, I have faith it will still work, that is unless you really did something that you didn't mention to short it out.

Good idea on checking the fuses.

Yea i guess i have to go to another dealership b/c they deff said 100 bucks.

i have a greddy turbo timer too. i took it all out today and reconnected everything and it came back on. it still works. so that problem is solved.

anyone got any preference on a data logger? good experiences with one?

let me know if you do.

thanks,
