420A Electrical issues

So I have a 99 Eclipse GS I recently picked up and I'm having some electrical issues such as the key will start the car but will not turn the car or any accessories off. The dash lights, tail lights, and corner lights will all turn on without turning the switch on but headlights will not turn on no matter what I do but have come on by themselves twice.

I'm lost

What have you done so far?

-If you haven't done anything I would first check fuses and then move onto grounds.

-It is probably NOT a fuse related issue but that is an easy place to start.

-If the wiring harness hasn't been cut into and hacked by someone installing aftermarket electrical systems a bad ground is the most likely cause IMO.

-If the harness has been cut into then that is most likely the cause. People like to use splice connectors to add lights, security systems and aftermarket garbage like that and generally will tap into another lighting accessories power which can cause all sorts of odd issues. Sometimes the splice connectors will cut all the way thru the wire they are drawing power from.

I checked all fuses and have replaced the ignition switch which before I did that sometimes the key would shut the car off but now it won't do anything but start the car could it be an issue inside the tumbler itself
