A little help from DSM fam. My 1g just started acting up on me last night. Haven't had too much time yet to dig deep but did a few tests last night.
Ok so as i was driving home last night i noticed my gauge lights seemed dim, as I backed into my drive way i notice my headlights were dimming pretty bad, turned the key off and car shut off and my turbotimer didn't keep it on(i know its not really needed for a stock turbo i haven't been beating on but i haven't bothered to take it out and its set for 30sec.)
That raised a lot of questions in my head so I tried to start it back up and nothing happened. Headlights, radio, etc all worked.
Got the multimeter out tested the battery (got 11.99v but i figured because i forgot to cut the lights and radio while I tried to crack it 4 times it drained it some.)
Checked the volts going to started solenoid and when I cranked it, it was getting the full 11.9v's.
Figure since the battery was basically charged the alternator was ok. (let me mention, alt and battery aren't thst old. Battery is actually leas than a year old.)
I did notice that the VC vent had a crack and oil ad been dripping down in in the starter. So i cleaned all the connectors let the car sit for like 15 mins then it started right up. Idling slightly different.
Thought i found the problem and put it on my list for weekend to clean up bay fix VC and possible replace starter.
This morning around 545 I started it to go to work and drove it a good mile then all my electronics cut out. Car was limping struggling to stay on till on got back home. Shut it off and wouldn't turn back on. Let it sit for like 45mins while i was trying to figure the whole work thing out and went back out to see if it would start and it did like a champ all electronics working as well.
I shut it off... Turbotimer worked.
Then I frustratingly left to work puzzled as f***.
Im sorry this was long and a bit scattered, also for lack of test info but im super short on free time with work and school(and having finals coming up in 2 weeks) I'm turning to the DSM Fam for a little bit of advice and pointers on were to look next.
Kindly,
Shawn
