Electrical Issue

I have recently been having trouble with an electrical draw. Does anyone have a method to find this electric draw ? If I do not start car for 2-3 days, the car wont start and I need to charge battery. Any ideas?

Does your car have an aftermarket stereo?

The method I have heard to use is, use a volt meter and unhook the negative terminal of the battery. Using the volt meter hook the negative terminal to the ground of the volt meter and the red wire on the negative post of the battery. It should show the amperage draw of the car. (So leave neg terminal unhooked and use the wires from the volt meter to connect the negative terminal to the negative post on the battery.)

After that you start removing fuses from the fuse box to see if the amperage draw becomes less after each fuse is pulled. (Some one correct me if I'm mistaken on the hookup of the volt meter)

You are correct Chrysler kid. But make sure you are on the Amp setting with your volt meter. Also, don't forget to test the battery and alternator. A dying battery will act like something is drawing. And a weak alternator can keep the battery at a barely charged state so it seems weak.

If you find the alternator to be at fault (the stock alternator location can be problematic if you're running without heat shields or have a leaky PS pump), upgrade to the 90 amp option. Most part stores list this option for Canadian models of our cars or the galants of the same years came with them standard issue.

Just got around to this. The stereo system is completely disconnected from battery. Had the alternator , battery and starter checked. All pass testing. God I love electrical issues. Time to start tracing!
