I had to take my fuse out for my door locks.Every time I lock my doors, before you realize it they open back up by themselves.any body ever had this problem?Any ideas?

anybody know were you can get replacment tracts for a electric sunroof?I guess its a factory sun roof.It doesnt lock down all the way.The tracts are slightly cracked and water drips in cause it doesn't pull down on the seal all the way.

You should create two threads for two issues.

If you can't keep your doors locked while driving, fix your door switches or their wiring to the controller.
If you can't keep the doors locked at night, your ignition switch is damaged or the key minder is shorted to hot.

Sunroof tracks can be had from a scrap-yard.
Check that the roof glass is adjusted properly. There are six torx head screws that hold the glass on. The rear of the glass should be 1mm above the surface of the roof, and the front of the glass should be 1mm below the surface of the roof.
Clean out your roof drains, they're clogged.

I thought I did two seperate threads but I guess I did something wrong.Must of hit the wrong button.I think there is something wrong with my ignition switch because every once and awile when I turn the key on sometimes the car wont start. When I turn the key half way only a couple of the lights come on.The check engine light doesn't come on some times and the car wont start. But if I take the steering collum cover off and wiggle the wires around all the lights will come back on and the car will start.Has any body had this happen before?Do I have to take the steering wheel off to fix this?I didnt realize that by fixing the ignition problem that the door locks would be fixed also.Is this true?

With the ignition off, but the key still inserted, the key minder circuit is activated. The car beeps at you when you open the door in this situation to alert you that the key is still in the ignition. Furthermore, the key minder is tied to the security/etacs controller to prevent the doors from locking. This makes it very difficult for you to lock your keys in the car. (A feature which has undoubtedly saved myself from many headaches.)

It would seem that your faulty ignition switch is shorting the key minder circuit, making the controller believe that the key is still inserted when in fact it is not, thus preventing you from locking the doors.

You can purchase a new ignition switch and transfer the lock cylinder from your current switch to the new, and keep your current matching key sets.

I'll look into that. Thanks for the info! Would that be a dealer item?

I just ordered a new switch.Only $23 including shipping. So are you pretty sure this is were the short is?seems like a cheap fix.I notice that if I wiggle the key around the dash lights will eventually come on and the car will start.I hope this fixes both problems.thanx for the help

Dealer or scrap-yard. I'm unsure about the aftermarket.

I'd try scrap-yards first.

I've actually encountered a different problem. It's been a while since I've been in my car but the car would lock on it's own. It made me paranoid enough that if I left the keys in the ignition or in the car at all, I would need to keep the door ajar or a window down for fear of locking me out.

I do know that my passenger door lock cylinder (sensor cap) is bad and I need a new one. Could that have anything to do with the doors locking on their own?

OP with the sunroof, is everything bolted down and unbroken? I can vouch with my sun roof because one of the lateral bars broke off of a screw or something and slides foward. If I don't push that bar backwards towards the trunk before closing the sunroof, it will bulge at the rear passenger corner wont make a seal at all.

My 1g does this as well. Sometimes, it will lock itself faster than I can unlock it using the spare key. Very difficult to get in. We had to leave the door ajar all winter while warming the car up. It has only happened a few times; the problem is intermittent. I haven't looked at it yet, but I'd guess either the switch is faulty, or a wiring short.

The weather is nice now, and that is on my list of things to sort and fix.

I just ordered new switch from USAUTOPARTS.com $23 inc shipping.Thanx

the tracts both have slight cracks and the rear corners dont pull down all the way.If its only drizzling or not raining to bad its ok but this past week it rained hard for four days and it started dripping all over the passenger seat.Ok for me but my wife hates it.Maybe she will stay home more often!

Easier way to ghetto fix is to just take out the auto door lock fuse...You have to manually lock and unlock doors, but it saves time chasing wires..LOL

As our cars get older they seem to run into wiing problems that either need to be fixed, or just completly taken out..It's usually easier to just take it out, than it is to trace wires to find corrosion and the like..

OMG thread revival! I know this is not specific to the original topic, but it does answer this part of it.

@Scott

I did resolve the problem awhile ago where it was difficult to keep the doors on the 1g unlocked. It turned out to be that the locking linkage was bent, causing it to be shorter. When the solenoid unlocked the door, it didn't push the linkage far enough into the switch. This caused the vehicle to think I was pushing the finger lock trying to lock the doors. Since the locks are automatic, it thusly locked the doors. I'm unsure of how the linkage bent in the first place, but I cleaned and re-greased the latch just to be safe.

I repaired it by bending the linkage in a manner which increased its total length (straightened out a bit one of its bends) and I haven't had a problem with it since.

My car locks itself if you unplug the battery for over 1 minute then plug it back up! i found this out the hard way during my work on my car these past couple of weeks, it took me and my wife 2 hours with a close hanger to unlock one of the doors :(

i went and made a spare key so if i do more work on it the with battery disconnected i will have a back up when it locks itsself
