My door locks don't work with the same key as my ignition. But this is the way I bought the car with only this key. Possibly going to replace the cylinders for the doors. Anyone know of a manufacturer selling cylinders and keys that I can install or possibly factory Mitsu parts?

The question I have is, did the key ever work with the door locks? or is there a keyless entry that was used? If the key for the ignition never worked on the door handles then the whole doors might have been replaced after an accident. Does the key not work on the rear hatch either?

The reason i ask you this is because the actual door handles do not come with the door lock cylinders when you purchase it, therefore that likely rules out that someone just changing door handles could have caused the problem. Although never underestimate the fact that someone might have went to a junkyard and took the whole assembly and replaced them.

There is no reason why a key that will start your ignition would not open your doors unless the locks were either broke or replaced. Your doors are 2 less teeth than your ignition thats the only difference. I could understand you having a key that would open the doors and not start the car, but the other way around just doesnt make sense.

I would call the dealership to order the cylinders. Have you tried spraying wd-40 in the keyhole yet? Keep a rag handy to wipe any that drips on the paint.

I would like to help you further with your problem i just need to know the exact problem first thanks

Actually after some more evaluation I found the keys worked but my power door locks do not work...When I hit the button I hear a click in the center console near the radio but it doesnt lock the doors. Any ideas on this one hahaha

Actually 2 ideas:

1. http://www.gc.dsm.org/faqs/doorlocks.htm

2. test your electric door lock relay- which is behind your radio bezel might be what you thought as the noise in the center console.

It could be your door actuator sticking.

My driver side would do this, until one day I thought it broke completely so I went to car toys and had my boy gimmie the homie hook up on a new actuator, and as soon as I was going to install it, my stock one starts working again.

I hope bringing this subject up from a month ago isn't going to cuase any problems from the moderators (let me know if it is) and hopefully he figured out his problem, but when I read steven15's original posting, the first thing that came to my mind was that possibly he is using his valet key. Dealerships can sometimes misplace or swap important items of a car while its on their lot. In comparison, my car didn't have a spare tire or jack when I went to purchase it.
Let me know if this is a accurate or semi-accurate assumption. If it is, hopefully it could be useful to someone in the future.

hey guys, I am having a similar problem with my power door locks, they key cylinder on the drivers door had been pushed into the door when I bought the car and the power locks would only lock the drivers door, I went to put the key cylinder back in the handle and I noticed a while plastic thing with wires attached to it, I am assuming this is the problem but I couldnt seem to get it back on the cylinder, can anyone give any input

sounds like someone removed it before and half-aced it back in. just pull the door handle to give you working room make sure the rods are all securely connected and that the connections to the actuator are secure.

people keep sayings its part of factory security system, i just bought the car and all it came with is a single key, does this mean that the car came with a keyless entry remote???? if so is it possible to buy a new one and program it to work with the car, I have also changed out the ECU does that matter??? thanks for the help

no not necessarily does it mean that. an easy way to find out if you car came with keyless entry is to take off the rear driversside interior panel. (the piece with the speaker grill in it by the back seat) look down towards the bottom right and if your car comes with keyless entry then you should have the little black box plugged in there that operates it. simple way to find out.

and those 2 wires attached to your lock cylinder have to be attached and not damaged in order for the keyless to work anyway. regardless you have to make sure there is a secure connection there, because how else do you think the door is going to unlock, if the lock cylinder has no power to it?. "..it wont.." unless done manually.

alright i put the clip back on to the key cylinder and nothing changed, I checked the passenger door and it was off that one too, but the clips on it were broken so I couldnt put it back on, it looks like a simple wire harness so I guess I will just go buy a new one for it, HOWEVER, I dont think that is the problem it looks like the door lock actuators just dont work, I dont know how I can tell or not, but they dont move at all, so i guess I need to take a trip to the junk yard

Oh and my car is a Dodge Avenger, I know the ES came factory, but mine is not, but seing that it had those alarm wires I am assuming the chose that as an Option or somthing??? Does anybody know??
