420s third gear suck. that is a prob i am def. havin. i can run a gsr off the line but, i slam third and then the VTECs unwind on me. plus just bout every gsr i run has a vetc controler and they hit vtec at 3 grand. So all i got to say is looks like i need the spray for anything after 3rd.

First off, ALL GSRs are manual transmission.
The 4 door only weighs an extra 100 pounds which adds up to around 2750 pounds.
They come with a 170hp engine and 130tq that redlines at 8000rpm

Yes they are fast, I had a few mods done back when I had my 96 GSR (Never should have sold) and I beat a Laser Turbo by a car.

actually a gsr redlines at 7600 rpm, and you cant set the vtec engagement point that low, it will mess up your car. you have to have the oil pressure to lock the pins in place and at 3000 rpms its not there.

drove a buddies 2001 gsr, had a cat-back, i was not impressed. this is also when i owned my impreza 2.5 RS... i miss her... but i remember it being very crappy until v-tec kicked in, and then woohoo!

u guys ever seen that MTV:true life-im a street racer..where that guy with the 4door integra smokes all cars he races and the gangster got mad and chase after him after getting smoked..hehe...

i felt bad for the integra in that show..."dude u put up your 500$...i put up my 500...so where my 500 foo!"LOL

i saw that he had an individual throttle body LS Vtec or something like that. A lot of those people got arrested for that it was funny. one guy had a suspended license and he said his probation offer saw it and he gt put away LOL

my friend has a type R and he redlines at 8500 and his rev limiter is 9200. the car has CAI and catback and its pretty fast. it has a nice top end. Raced GSR with it and pulled slowly till about third and after third we just destryed him.

its funny how little you guys know about hondas. but i guess its even with the amount i know about dsms. first of all the car you guys watched on that mtv show was a right hand drive type r. not a four door with a ls vtec.

vert gst- how does your friend have a type r with a stock redline but a 9200 rpm rev limiter? hondas redline is the rev limiter.

becau8se i have sat there and watched him take it that high he had a turbo in his car blew the motor and replaced it. it cost him about 7 grand to replace it.
when watching that show i recalled him stating that it was a ls vtec, who knows i could be wrong. i am not stating that i know tons about hondas and acuras but that i am going on based on what i have seen. i know the car on mtv was not a 4 door, that it was a 2 door.

wow this conversation got nowhere fast, people started arguing about what models have which motor, and so on. To put it simply, VTEC is one of Hondas greatest creations. But all it is is valve timing. I mean come on, all kinds of cars have it now, the new celicas and other toyotas, golfs and jettas have it and so on, they are "vtec" but they are controlled in the same way. I believe toyotas is "vvti" or something, i dont really care. I do know that we don't have anything like that, so guess what boys and girls, this means we will lose to a GSR no matter if it weighs less, or how many people each has in the car. BUT if you can drive, and I mean drive well, you should be able to stay on it's rear end. You should not, i repeat, should not get your a$$ kicked by a GSR...bottom line. A lot of people can drive stick, but how many know how to race?launch?power shift? etc.....now that we have that straight, let's get another thing straight fellas, there is a more dangerous VTEC car rolling around, not a GSR or SI, but a Del Sol VTEC....yes, a del sol....sad but rue...these things have 160 hp stock, and only weigh 2400 lbs....look out.....I'm for real...my friend (i would like to say it's a girl, but its a dude...) has one....he's got a Tanabe exhaust, DC 4-1 header, AEM cai, V-AFC, and some suspension mods and is running low 14's....we would be lucky to break into the 15's with mods like that....we drive good cars, but we have to work a little harder to get where we want to be...non-turbo guys anyways....Bolt on a AEM cai, greddy header, greddy or apex-i exhaust, s-afc, u/d, ad some cam-gears, and you'll be right with tose pesky gs-r's.....don't even try a Type-R unless you're turbo'd...

ok, if the guy said he had an LS VTEC, he meant that his car was an Integra LS, but, he wet the extra mile of swapping heads. He has an LS block with the GSR B18 VTEC head...got it?Honda guys can do tricky stuff like that, because, well, theyre hondas....gotta respect em though, i lose to some of em...

hey 95 gs 2nv how is a n/a dsm gonna stay on the bumper of a gsr?? i mean with the best driver in the world a stock 420A will run a 16.6 or so. a stock gsr will probably run 15.6 or so. that is a second faster in the quarter. that seems like a huge gap to me...but if you call that staying on the bumper then...okay??!!
i think that even with a s#itty driver the gsr will run low 16's. it's just a faster car and although driving does play a part in it, speed is one of the biggest parts.

But I didn't say a stock DSM......with the mods I listed.....most people on this site aren't driving around stock car's.....put a GS Eclipse with a cai, header, cat-back, U/D pulley, and some cam gears up against a GSR, and the race isn't so unfair anymore....in saying you should be on it's rear, i mean you should have no more than a car length between the two, then again, I don't have a stock N/A anymore, so maybe me sticking on the rear bumper of a GSR isn't the case for everyone with mod's. In my experience with racing honda's and acura's alike, i know how badly i get beaten, and it isn't a whole second in the 1/4...but thats me and my biased opinion, I'm entitled to have one, I din't mean to offend anyone by making my statements.
