I just had the caps replaced on my ecu and everything was fine for about a week. Now, I can't get the car to start (but it will turn over). The ecu is getting 12v to the permanent power (pin 103) but the switched power (pin 102) isn't getting any. The afc is not turning on as a result of this also.
I've tried replacing the black relay behind the ecu and also the small brass module that's in there also. MPI fuse under the hood is fine and fuse 19 in the in-car fuse box is fine.
If I run a wire directly from the battery into pin 102, the ecu and afc turn on and I can control the fuel inj with the pocketlogger. The car will also start but the logger won't read any data, although the car's gauges appear to be working fine.
I don't know what else to check. Any help is appreciated.

I had a friend replace them that has hobbies that require soldering (rc planes, etc).
I know that at least one of them leaked, but I don't know how much. He said he cleaned up the board a little with a brush.

Based on what I've seen, your friend didn't catch everything and now you'll need the ECU worked on again. The fact that the car will run when you hotwire the ECU is a good sign that the problem isn't fatal. I suspect the powering up and the datalogger are two different failures in the ECU.

I'll try to get the ecu to a shop to have them take a look at it, or maybe try to find someone in the area that I can have try my ecu or vice-versa. I'll let you know how things work out.
Thanks for the advice!

I sent it out to get worked on and they said it was in pretty rough shape. A lot of acid damage. There were a lot of places that weren't getting any continuity and they could see little black lines across the traces. Anyway, it was fugged. Now I'm kind of anxious to see if this clears up some of the other issues that I've been having for a while now. Thanks again for the help!

Foreign Auto Computer Repair in Dade City, FL that I found through a post like this one: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=71259&highlight=foreign+auto+ecu

After testing it for free (because I didn't know for sure that it was broken), they charged me $195 to repair everything. That includes overnight shipping and an 18 month warranty. A new ecu from them is $350 and an eprom ecu is $425 if I remember correctly, and both have the same 18 month warranty.

I should have it back in the car tomorrow evening.

I thought you were charging $150?
In any case, the reworked ecu seems to have fixed my problems. The afc powers up like normal and turns off after the normal delay. I'm excited to drive it!
