First of dont know if this is the right spot to post this thread...seemed good to me as the egr blockoff is bolt on.

I have been reading about the EGR removal I wanna get a solid answer. Many say that when they do an EGR block off they will not throw a CEL. Is this true?? Also when you do an EGR removal do you need to leave the sensors pluged in or can you pull those off too? Any body done this and not thrown a code

mine was blocked off on my 97 gst i just had the block off plate between the egv valve and the intake and left everything hooked up... and once or twice a year it would throw a code but i would just disconnect the battery and it wouldent come back for 6 months or longer

So it passed emmisions fine. Just had to erase the code once it popped up. Was thinking i wanted to do this to clean it up. Really wish i could get rid of all the sensors too to clean it up more

If you are going to block off the EGR and you are capable of taking off the intake manifold, this will help out the most. After you block it off, no more exhaust gasses circulate into the manifold and it would be good to clean out the manifold from all of the carbon/grease build up inside. It'll smooth out the airflow which will help out. Not required but is nice to do if you can.

well emissions was never a problem but the code wasnt there for sure. get ecmlink if you want to get rid of everything. :thumb:

and actually theres no real point to block it off unless you do this

You do realize that you don't even really see the EGR unless you try to look for it since it's under the TB. You would be better removing vacuum lines to clean up the engine bay and doing a wire tuck.

yes i do realize that. but do you need to block the egr to remove vacuum lines or can u leave the egr connected and just pull the vacuum lines and cap them??

so i can leave the egr but pull ALL the vacuum lines besides the one that goes to the wastegate MBC, BOV, and my aftermarket boost gauge correct. Then should i just cap the rest of the stuff off or is it ok to leave uncapped
