Egr CEL is on i would like to know how to get around it. The only way I've found is to run a cooler thermostat but then my car runs cold and in closed loop so it runs like shit i would like to know what controls the opening and closing of the egr so i can get around it. Any help is much appreciated! 1990 mitsu eclipse gs with a turbo

get a block of plate for the egr valve and then pull all your vacuum lines, that's what I did but I'm not worried about emission inspections.

That's what is done except the egr is just capped there is only one vacuum line on my whole car but i cant get around the egr cel i think the temp sensor runs the thermo vacuum valve witch opens the egr but how does the ecu know when the egr is open or closed and how do i trick it?

im not real sure i might have a cali ecu its a blue streak computer that has been rebuilt and swaped into a non turbo car so its hard to say anybody in cali know how to get around it

If the ECU doen't have a original part number on it somewhere, open it up and check if there is a 4 digit number on the white edge connector. We are trying to verift what year and model ECU your running. There is nothing you can do to a 1990 ECU to switch from CA ro Fed unless it turns out to be a EPROM ECU. On 91-93 ECUs you can change a configuration resistor and the software will act differently.
