Hi guys,

I decided to upgrade my tail lights with some new red LEDs today. All four are P21/5W, but when pressing the brake pedal, only the outer bulbs brighten up.

Can anyone confirm if this is the way it should function? Why are both sockets listed as requiring P21/5W, if only one of them brightens up when pressing the pedal?
It does the same thing with the halogen bulbs, but I hadn't really noticed it before.

This is a clip of how it works:

Isn't that for rear fog lights purpose? I thought EDM Eclipse is like that.
There doesn't seem to be a way to make them brighten up manually. The wires on both sides look to be spliced as there is tape on them, so maybe someone messed with the wiring in the past. Otherwise, I don't see why both sockets would be requiring P21/5W if only the 5W bulb will always be lit on the inner socket.

So you knew the wiring has previously been modified. Then just trace it so you would able to guess what the previous owner wanted to do.

But I thought only the outer bulbs are used for tail lights and the inner for fog lights from factory is normal for EDM Eclipse.

I looked at videos on Youtube of people driving EDM models, on most of them both brighten up, but on a couple it was the same as mine.

I think I'll just leave it as it is for now. It doesn't really bother me that much.
