okay so i had this eclipse for 3 years now and it has been a bloody headache to deal with. when i got it the engine wasnt wired up and the tranny was cracked where the slave sat so i couldnt attach a new one. so after fixing all that i got crank crank crank crank, nope never starts.

after lots of testing i came to the conclusion the ecu failed and i was right. put a new one in and started right up.

a month into driving it the engine seized so now its a year later got a new one and guess what the same exact issue as before, no start. so again i do all the tests to rule out any sensors or other electrical issues. now im back to square one with this piece of shit, so my question is does anyone know what on the ecu circuit goes bad to cause this.

i now have two ecus with the same issues they dont send signals to produce spark i want to know if maybe there are crappy resistors or capacitors in the ecus that cause this kind of issue and what is a TRUSTED place to get a good aftermarket ecu that wont fail after a month of use i really dont get how it died the engine seized and after that it sat not being used for a year now all of a sudden it doesnt work.

its a 99 eclipse with a 420a chrysler engine and ecu 5 speed manual any help on this matter would be nice its really annoying

if your not getting spark its most likely not the ecu. all the ecu does is provide a ground contact for the ignition coils. plus the ecu on 98-99 cars are pretty solid.

check your ecu grounds, cam signal at the ecu, crank signal at the ecu, and ASD relay circuit

if you still have your EGR hooked up, check the wires by the EGR tube. Heat from the tube tends to melt wires together

okay ill check it out so far could this be a faulty ground i have brand new gound wire in it but waws readind that ground can be an issue but in most cases ive ever seen if you have a bad ground you dont get anything no power at all i would really like to get it running i love this car its just super annoying the issues ive encountered with it it was bought from some kid who didnt take care of it for shit tho so i sort of knew what i was getting into but never expected all the issues its brought and the egr is hooked up and wires are not melted at all actually look real solid and seem to test fine

thought of something too i duno if it would keep it from getting spark put the wires for the oil pressure sensor are missing the connector its been like that since i got it tho and it ran before just fine until the engine shit the bed
