ECMlink ECMlink won't connect

So I got a DSMlink v2 and put in the ecu I got from the guy and I can't get the program to connect. Everytime I try to connect it says SerOpenPort failed????

Do you have the cable plugged in directly to the computer via serial port or do you have a serial to USB adapter in between? If an adapter, do you have the drivers for it installed?

This is what I've done, bought the dsmlink and ecu. Put it in and downloaded the ECMlink program. I have the obd2 to a serial to USB adapter. What driver do I need?

From radio shack. USB serial cable

The radio shack adapters dont work. Ive tried those and best buys when I had my v2. I got the exact same error. You need a keyspan db9 adapter to connect properly.

My buddy has a spare he's going to bring me tomorrow and see if that does the trick! Thanks for all the help! Didn't think it would matter what cable adapter I used, guess I was wrong
