I'm running an hks ebc and an external wastegate. My vacuum hoses are routed correctly, however I'm not building the right amount of boost. If I enter 23 in the controller I get about 21 so it's not off by a whole lot but it's still off. The only thing I could think of is the inside diameter of the vacuum hoses I'm using is too small? I know with the boost controller the vacuum hose sizes it tells you to use are about 2mm bigger on the inside than what I'm using so would that cause this problem? I don't have any boost leaks.

Does it maintain boost consistently? Or does it fluctuate?

I had boost control problems with my tial once (not with an EBC), and it turned out that my wastegate spring was too small, and the spring just didnt know what to do with so much pressure sent to it.
When I upgraded to a stiffer spring (15psi I believe), I had more adjustment range, and boost was rock solid.

yea it holds boost nicely ... it goes up to 20 psi pretty good if I have it set for 22 and then it slowly creeps up to about 21. My wastegate spring is a 1 bar spring so I should be ok. I'm thinking its gotta be the vacuum lines.

Isnt 1 bar equal to like 14.5psi?

Actually, it's 14.48. :p That just means he cant run any lower than that and with the use of a boost controller, he can only run up to double that (2 bar).

1fast97gsx - How do you like that EVC? I was considering getting one. I heard the it's extremely accurate because of the stepper motors....

yep 1 bar is about 14.5 psi which means thats the lowest I can go. I can however raise the boost which is what I'm trying to do. I will try swapping out vacuum lines and see if that helps.

I like the controller a lot minus this little problem which is most likely not the controllers fault. The Greddy Profec B is also nice since it's already set up in Psi and not bar.

You need some oversized vacuum lines, I can't remember who has them but I heard great results with them. (lower ET.) :shhh:

So is it true that vacuum hose size will affect things? I have a problem on my big 16G where before boost would pause at about 15 psi before going to 23 like where it should be. I decided to weld a fitting on the J pipe to run my boost source there. Now I get 10 psi. I also went to 1/8" hose since that's what the nipple on the actuator is. I thought I had a boost leak somewhere because I was never able to run less then 18 psi. Before I welded my J pipe I was using 3/16" hose tee'd off a BOV but that was causing that annoying pause in boost. Any one get a clue what might be happeneing? I'm getting sick of this

I'm running a stand alone with it's own boost solenoid.
